Error Codes: Bungies fault? Perhaps....

I received Destiny over the holidays and after the extensive downloading and installing the game ran beautifully and I fell in love. However about a week later (about the time Christmas passed) I began having a connection issues. D/C's are a big problem. You can't run weekly Nightfalls or Heroics, you can't even do the daily stories. Its frustrating having to replay a mission 15 times to get through to the end. Ever dropped a strike boss and then D/C? No rewards, no fun, a lot of anger. Its been a huge impediment to the game and I'm not able to progress into the endgame. I can't raid because of D/C issues, its like the ROC expansion was a waste of money. Now with all that frustration vented lets try (hopefully with Bungie's support) to get to the root of the D/C issues. First off I think a lot of my issues is that the servers are bogged down. A lot of people probably got this game for Christmas and the servers are probably screaming for a lighter load or some more back up. I think I've receive almost every D/C error out there which I find odd. I've gotten Bee and Anteater the most but the errors include Barracuda, Cattle, Caterpillar, Lion, Fly, Lionfish, Hare, Jackrabbit, Eel, Gooseberry, Cacao, Weasel, etc. I thought my ISP (KwiKom) is partially to blame but they claim their systems are all good and that mine are too. It makes sense since every other internet based game, program and app work fine. Using the Bungie Networking Guides I've reworked my entire system, port forwarding, changing my PS3 to a wired connection, reinstalling Destiny and ROC, etc, but to no avail. I even bypass my router (after 10:30 pm) and connect directly to the PS3 and that doesn't help either. I've physically inspected all my hardware looking for damage to any cords or connections, all perfect. I even upgraded my internet speed thinking "Its a really internet heavy game, maybe I just don't have enough bandwidth." Still no effect. My connection issues hit a climax a few days ago and I decided to restore default settings to all my hardware and it smoothed the game out a bit but connection errors continue to plague me. Tonight is bad enough that I am reaching out for help. Bungie, random people of the forums. Help if you can. Hopefully by the end of this post others in my boat will be able to relieve their problems as well. Info Bungie or other prospective helpers may need Console: PS3 PSN: Digma_k E-mail: Digma_k@yahoo.com (gamer e-mail so no worries about who has it) Location: United States, Kansas, SE (that should be enough, if you want more you have to ask) ISP: KwiKom Router: Cisco Linksys E1200 Connection: Wired General play schedule: Mon-Wed 15:00-23:00 Thur 09:00-01:00 Fri 09:00-13:00 (all times are UTC -6:00)

  • Bungie excuse is check your Internet whenever the majority of these codes pop up in reality it's their crappy servers but instead of fixing them they blame us

  • Well i have been getting WEASEL since January 24th approx. PS4. I got Netgear to remotely troubleshoot my router (made a Headgear contract as it was driving me nuts). Router running perfectly they viewed remotely for 24 hours. My ADSL running perfectly no dropouts. They did tweak some things but that did not help. GTA fine. COD fine. Garden Warfare fine. The Crew fine. FarCry4 fine. So i thing it's definitely Destiny. I get DC'd every 30 minutes or so. If in a party chat i get kicked from that usually first. Then i get Contacting Destiny Servers message - means i will be removed withing a minute. Then WEASEL code. I deleted the game and reinstalled. I have reset my router so many times i can't count. Even if not in party chat i get DC'd so that is not a factor but Destiny is a factor in my Chat kicking. Playing any other game and in a chat i do not get kicked from party chat. When it started going arse up i was getting MARIONBERRY but now only WEASEL. I play Destiny with about 10 Aussie friends and some USA and UK. Makes no difference who i am plaything with. It happens when i am playing with myself too. LOL. MMMMMM. Seems funny that it's usually as regular as clockwork - 30 minutes give or take. Been playing Destiny since the Alpha and never had an ongoing DC problem. Occasionally some DC would happen but i can count them on one hand - that is before January 24th.I cannot do a raid or weekly without exiting to make sure i am not kicked and hope that everyone else survives till i return. I feel my friends are very patient but it makes my feel like the weakest link at the moment. Not an enjoyable experience. ENUF. Do the Destiny bods ever read these?

  • I put together a nightfall team a short while ago but couldn't finish it due to the -blam!-ing disconnections. In less than 10 minutes I got bee, baboon, caterpillar, eel, sheep, fly error codes. I got so fed up that I just gave up. This often occurs when I'm trying to do the weekly/nightfall and at night and weekends which is when I'm able to get most of my gaming time in.This is the only online game I have connections issues with and considering what I seen in the forums, it's a safe bet to assume the problem lies at Bungie's end.

  • 16:50 (UTC -6:00) 2/03/2015 D/C: Weasle. D/Ced from a nearly complete Rumble match. Note: Yup its about that time. Played nice all day, no issues. Now around the time kids come home from school I get booted constantly. No other people on my internet. This shows it is the lack of space in Bungie's servers. So my new question is why am I the one who gets kicked? Is it my location? My account creation date? What makes me so low priority on your servers bungie?

  • Bump. Do not expect assistance from bungie guardian, because there is none to be had. You must face this darkness alone...... Until bungie releases Destiny 2 for $100, which will have a day 1 patch which will fix all connection bugs in Destiny 1.

Tried again and made it through. Went into the Croat raid hopping to solo the maze portion and get leg drop I could actually use. Checked on the chest before the maze, opened it and then got beed, then weaseled and when I logged in chickened!!! All over the past 30 Minutes. -_-

19:31 (UTC -6:00) 1/28/2015 D/C: Cacao. D/Ced on my way to the moon. Note: This one is on my end. Someone got home and started browsing Facebook and someone started streaming HD quality videos. Getting off Destiny until 10:30 so I can bypass my router and post more accurate reports. Edit: And the late post was due to the internet being sucked dry so bad that I couldn't load bungie.net

      • 19:25 (UTC -6:00) 1/28/2015 D/C: Bee. Kicked from the tower. Landed at the tower, players were present. I was looking at New Monarchy gear, just window shopping. Note: I seem to have no trouble maintaining a connection to crucible servers. I got on and got my crucible bounties. I went into the crucible playlists and didn't come out until I had completed my bounties. No D/C issues. Mild lag. I'm going to attempt to patrol the Moon.

      • Yes, I feel your pain. I think Bungie's standard cursory response to help with the connection errors is a decent starting point for many, but clearly not the end all solution to all the errors that we all face. There is something on their end that needs fixing... Though I am clearly not qualified to pinpoint the fix. In my situation, I have two Xbox one consoles. One wired, one wireless. I play Destiny with my son all the time. We use the same Internet, same settings, everything. I can be playing just fine on mine (wireless) and he will lose connection (wired) randomly, with one of their many animal error codes. Or often one of us can't even launch the game (marionberry error) while the other launches flawlessly. It's always random. Sometimes the wired one gets booted, sometimes the wireless. The one thing for 100% certain is we NEVER have both dropped connection or had the same issue at the same time. This, to me rules out any bandwidth, speed, or router settings... Since if the issue was in our networking, we'd both have the same problem. And the fact that the wireless console can stay connected while the wired gets booted with errors also seems to point to issues on Bungie's end. I don't know what the deal is, but I do know that we also play AC unity, Halo Masterchief, and Dragon Age inquisition... All multiplayer using the two consoles and the same home network internet connection, and not one of those has even close to the issues that we get with Destiny.
