Patrolling, and ideas on how to make it interesting.

Even though it is not mentioned in the title, I will also be talking about PvE events, and not just Patrolling. I'll start off with PvE events, and of course, Queen's Wrath. We all who have been playing from the beginning remember what it was like. Old missions rehashed with mediocre rewards (at least I managed to grab myself a ton of materials before they removed that) and a few items from Petra Venj. When it was over, and even during the event, we made it very clear it was boring and uninteresting. Bungie heard this, and after the first Iron Banner was over, Bungie said they'd rework IB and QW. Iron Banner was reworked and it's actually decent now. At least I, as a player of both PvP and Pve, enjoy it. Now, I'm waiting for either a new event, or reworked Queen's Wrath. I'd prefer Queen's Wrath before any other PvE event, because 1) you made a promise and have yet to fulfill it, and 2) I actually like the Queen as a character. There's a certain mystery to her and the Awoken in the Reef, and even though the first Queen's Wrath was lame as flip, on a subconscious level I actually sort of enjoyed it. I kept remembering her line "I have shown you benevolence, Guardian. If I call upon you, I expect you to answer" and got the feeling I was actually working for someone, or towards something, even though it was just... killing Riksis, Draksis and Aksor over and over again for the most part. I do have an event idea (which will be similar to a Patrol idea of mine, more on that soon) which could be interesting: Faction event. Give us the option to get special bounties from factions, and different factions would have bounties/missions in different areas of the game, and give their own faction-related gear and weaponry as rewards. One thing though, and I know some people will disagree with this part: make Faction level 2 or 3 a requirement for this. Story/lore-wise, it would make more sense for the factions to give tasks to Guardians who have played their own part in said faction, so to speak. Gameplay-wise, this would also prevent people from doing missions for all factions and gain all the rewards from them. Why do I not want this to happen? Because in my opinion, you should pick one faction and stick to it. We're no double agents, Guardians. This could be a PvE event... but also at the same time, PvP. Remember "Faction Wars"? Make a big team-based playlist. 6v6, mixed with Control and Clash, or a whole new gametype, team up people who are wearing the same faction's class items, and match them against teams with some other faction's class items. And make it a requirement for the player to be wearing a faction class item to be able to enter the playlist. Any more faction-related ideas and thoughts are very much welcome: I want the factions to have more meaning than just a boring vendor! Now... onto Patrolling. I like patrolling. Or, well, liked it at first. It was interesting to see and explore new ares, I searched through every nook and cranny when I started playing. Took me forever to actually finish the story because of that. It really felt like I was in the wilderness, out there in the dangerous wild, and finding those ??-marked enemies was a thrilling experience, because they weren't just weak dregs or acolytes to steamroll over: they were an actual threat. Something to avoid. It gave the game new life along with all the shooty-tooty-eveything-dies kind of patrolling we have now. I want to have that feeling of danger again, one way or the other. Diversify enemy spawns! It's boring to have all the enemies sit in exactly the same areas, spawning in the same exact caves and rooms. Make special enemies spawn, like tough fallen Captains wandering around and scavenging the landscape. Cabal Interceptor convoys moving through the stomped roads of Mars. Vex groups trying to build a new conflux or trying to spawn a Cyclops. More frequent and intense wars between factions. The ideas and possibilities are nearly limitless! Take advantage of your possibilities! Also: please, PLEASE make more dark areas which require your flashlight. Please try to make eerie places for atmosphere. Have you ever tried going back to the very first tunnel you started your story from? The one where you saw the Fallen for the very first time? Some creepy stuff going on back there. How about that subway system in Steppes? It's so small, but I'd LOVE to have a labyrinth of dark, eerie tunnels spreading everywhere in the Cosmodrome while other Guardians are fighting the fallen on the surface. And now, about that faction patrolling thing I mentioned: Make special patrol missions appear for people wearing a faction's class item. Why does Arach Jalaal give missions to Guardians who are a part of New Monarchy, or the other way around? This isn't anything big, but it'd give more depth for the factions, if only just a tiny bit. That's all I have to say right now. I'm kind of tired and my thoughts are clogged up. Feel free to pitch in your own ideas and discuss.
