Ever join a Crucible match or any matchmade occurrence that you would like to chat with your team mates, to strategize, work together or even just chat and have a laugh since we are all humans behind our controllers? Well, you can't. Sure - you can press the join fireteam button from the nav but that isn't going to prompt your teammates to do so, and there's no realistic way to request they do so. And, yeah, there's a notification that you joined - however the chance of them seeing that is incredibly low. When this feature was first released I was excited for it, I bought up the nav and entered the team chat. No one was there. No one came. No one ever comes, really, and they probably aren't aware there's the option or that there's a reason to do so. The problem is that the team voice chat feature is pretty much invisible. Yeah, you wanted it opt-in and you can have it that way. But when you are loading the Crucible match or the other matchmade event, just ask the player "Do you want to use Team Voice Chat?" and have it go away and opt-out when loaded so they don't even have to do anything else if they don't want to use it. The point is, make your feature known, tempt people to use it. Don't shove it in their face, but also don't hide it. In matchmade events / Crucible you could have a "4/6" with a voice icon out of the way but noticeable for how many people are using the team chat, and have a +1 pop up briefly and unobtrusively when someone else joins. That's my suggestion for fixing this. What's yours? Not everyone wants to use it, and that's fine, but right now the people who may use it never get to.

  • They already have enough indicators advertising it. There's a notification every time somebody enters or exits the chat. also in the roster you can see megaphones next to people's names if they are using the game chat. Most people just don't want to, either because they don't want to talk to people or they are using party chat.

  • The reason why there is no one in there can't just be they don't want to talk? I personally only really enjoy talking with my buddies or people I've befriended through patrols/LFG nightfall and raids. 10 minute matches is not enough time for me, personally, to decide if I want to friend you or not. This is even greater when playing Crucible as the people who play there are often very different than those playing mostly PvE activities, their attitude is completly different and it's something I don't enjoy hearing. "F this, F that. That was not even close what the F?!". Sums up majority of online competitive gaming.

  • I don't know about anyone else but this chat never works for me. I can be in a strike and see that another person joins the chat, I do the same can't hear anything. On top of that, my friends, who we are in a party together, can hear the other person or people in the tower, but I cant. Also they say that the other person can hear me. What's up? What am I doing wrong?

    • I think most people know how to use it, I for one chose not to. It's eating, loud music, accents I can barely understand, racial and sexist slurs..... No thank you.

    • People know how to do it. Just choose not too. A lot of people don't like to talk to strangers. I love talking to strangers so I wish more people used their mics. But who cares. Just play the damn game

    • We always create a party anyway, at least if you are on ps3, ps4, so it's not a big issue.
