Crota's End - Tips and strategies

Ok guys, we have all had plenty of time to play the new raid and thought I would start a thread about things I think work and suggestions for class set-ups etc... I am mostly a Warlock so anything I can offer will be comprehensive on Warlocks, I hope others will help with Titans and Hunters. THE ABYSS This is strait forward really. The main thing to remember here is move as a group - on your own it is easy to get overwhelmed. If you have stragglers - wait before activating the next lamp. things that work well: Warlocks - use sunsinger (not only for Fireborn) but for the solar grenades. If you feel overwhelmed between or on lamps - throwing a solar grenade at your feet and standing (or walking over it) in the fire will not damage you but on normal - the thrall will pretty much all die when entering giving time for health recovery and saving others at the same time. Titans - you have a choice - Defender class with an armor ability/blinding works the same as above - protecting you while you recover (as well as the team) If you prefer Striker then flash grenades are the way to go, drop one at your feet while running and everything behind you is blind - also a panic smash can also help. Hunters - this one is tricky as Hunters are quite squishy however blink strike with invis helps you get away - not personally playing much as a Hunter I hope others will help out on tips for using a Hunter. If you move as a group and get to the lamps at (almost) the same time as each other you should have no problem getting rid of ALL the weight of darkness to make getting to the next lamp easier. remember to call out holes - some of them get the best of us When at the 'Bridge' Defenders are in a class of their own here, drop an armor bubble/blinding bubble + weapons just off the back of the circle but not too far back that it has no coverage (this allows people to recover behind the rocks on either side of the bridge with relative safety if others are fighting. Golden gunners, use that super as often as possible to get orbs for the others (remember if you drop 3 orbs thats 3 for EACH player) Warlocks - I know it's tempting and sometimes reflex to resurrect as soon as you die but you must fight that urge, If you die and it's hard for the group - that resurrect could mean the difference between being the only one across or starting from the beginning. If a Warlock dies, take a deep breath and quickly assess the situation. How many others are down? how close is the bridge to completion? I have personally died and waited to see that 5 members were still up but getting overwhelmed quickly with an ogre almost upon us - the bridge was close to complete and then 1 went down, 2 went down, then the last 3 went down. The bridge completes - I self resurrect then dash across the bridge. I think that in that instance the ogres would have killed me too had I helped that last few seconds and we would have had to start again. OGRE BRIDGE When we 1st started doing this it was so hard to get 4/5 across let alone all 6 (mainly due to the limited damage we were doing being under-levelled) but recently we have got getting 6 across almost the 'norm' Obviously you need 3 people on the pads - the 3 on the Sword Bearer's side should be confident in holding the pad by themselves (the middle even more so due to not being able to step off the pad at all or the bridge starts deconstructing immediately) Once you have 2 on the sides and 1 in the middle, decide before hand who goes in which order 1,2,3 (I believe that a Titan should go 1st that way if anyone misses a gatekeeper the titan can drop a blinding bubble or has flash grenades to occupy the gatekeeper) The 1st hit you should do is a slam (Usually set to R2 but whatever you have set to fire your weapon) this will stun the gatekeeper and stop him hitting you - after the initial slam then any combo you prefer or continuous Slams will work. remember that once you are across you are on add control (additional enemies) the more left when the next guy across - the harder it will be for them. On the Sword Bearer side the 3 that go 1st must work together to takedown the sword Bearer - If he goes somewhere - you must follow. The guys on the 2 sides have a hard enough time staying on the pad as it is without a very tough sword bearer tearing it towards them. It is each and every sword carriers responsibility to kill their own Gate Keeper, if you miss one then the next person has 2 that might be too far apart which if missed could lead to 3 or more Gatekeepers to kill. I know it is possible to grab the sword off of a side pad drop position - run over the bridge and just 'just' about kill 3 Gatekeepers (2 with full health and 1 with half) but it is hard and requires them to be close to each other. Assuming that you now have your 3 people across safely with all 3 Gatekeepers down it's now time to switch. I know in previous runs I have said once the 3 get across get off the start pads but I have learnt from experience that the 3 on the Sword Bearers side should stay on the pads until the Gatekeepers side has cleared up some adds and are standing on the other 3 pads. The problem I found with the people jumping off the Sword Bearers side is the bridge deconstructs very quickly and then you have to wait for the others to clear adds and then get the bridge up again. By staying on the pads for that little bit longer - you can have them take over quicker without the bridge deconstructing at all therefore reducing the amount of adds to deal with on the Sword bearers side. From there on out I suggest leaving your strongest player till last across (or warlock with self res) as they will have to take down 3 sword bearers on their own getting harder and harder with more knights and less people left to cross. But hopefully you are all versed at taking out a sword Bearer on your own by now. Now. What happens if you have 3 people across but you still have a gatekeeper alive that will not leave that central player alone? Staying on that pad is tricky. Well all is not lost. There are a few tricks I have learnt along the way. Remember that Titan setup I suggested - That really shines here - pop that bubble of blinding on that centre pad and dodge the swipe by the Gate Keeper. What if you don't have a Helm of St 14 you say? well. you see, Gate Keepers are really stupid. The 2 people on the sides must also protect you on the centre from adds but what you have to do is run. thats it. Run. and keep on running. In a circle around the edge of the pad. Do not shoot or melee unless absolutely necessary. You must stay on the pad but if you run around the outside of the pad the Gatekeeper will always slam where you were. If you keep going in a circle - you keep the Gate Keeper busy and he's right there in front of the bridge ready for the next guy across - by which time the 2nd one will join you following his stupid brother. (you may have to do a little jump when the 2nd one turns up as he will be on a different trajectory that the 1st but they should both just slam where you were. Once all across - keep alive, res your team mates if needed and kill them Ogre's. THE GAUNTLET I don't think we really need a walk through for this but for anyone that has not run Crota yet..... In this corridor you have a ton of thralls (explodies and regular) and 2 Shriekers. In order to get to the end you must kill both shriekers as they have invisible walls behind them that you cannot pass until the shrieker is dead. The chest door starts closing after you kill the last shrieker so the best setup is 1 Runner with a backup, 2 Heavy Weapon guys and 2 add control guys. The Heavy guys shoot at least 2 rockets worth of damage at the 1st shrieker while the 2 add guys kill thrall (the large bulk will be on the right due to the right curve to the corridor) your main aim is to keep the runner and backup as safe from adds as possible as these guys should only concentrate on Running - the backup should keep an eye on the shriekers and put a few rounds in them should they get close without it being dead. If all goes to plan then the runner should get to the door before it closes. REMEMBER TO JUMP OVER THE HOLE AT THE END or you have missed the chest. The runner should always be the one to say when to wipe. They should be far enough ahead of the group to know if they will make it to the door before closing. If they say wipe - the rest must all die quickly without wasting more ammo (stupid heavy ammo loss when dying glitch) or activating the next checkpoint to be in with a chance of retrying for the chest. This section should take no more than 2 minutes to complete if done smoothly.

 • DEATHSINGER Now this is probably the hardest part of the raid in my opinion. there are so many Ultra Knights here it's easy to get 2 shot or even 1 shot in lower levelled characters. Ok, to approach this fight you will need to form up into 2 groups of 3 (left and right) When you leave the pit room - ignore the 2 knights with swords on their knee's in front of the exit - Killing these knights will start the Deathsingers Liturgy countdown timer and then it's a rush to get through the fight and mistakes can get made. Then 1 guy runs into the left room and 2 up to the sniper tower and the same on the right side - The idea is to get in and out quickly and coax your Wizard out so the 2 snipers on each side can take them down quickly. The next part is tricky and nearly always ends in someones death. once both Wizards are dead all 6 guys need to kill the knights on the Right (left when facing the Deathsingers room) there SHOULD be 2 outside but others may have walked across from the other side - then 1/2 people go to the door and you can take the shrieker out from outside the room minimising possible death. Then the hard part - Everyone needs to cover the right while 1 person goes in and kills the other shrieker as quickly as possible
