How can people be this bad at pvp... w/TIPS to improve

Edit: If you are looking for a more in depth tip page please refer to my website! I know you may not want to redirect to it, and i'm not sure if it has ads or not, but it has all of the information here, and much much more! http://crucibleguardians.weebly.com/ I don't know about anyone else but i play a ton of crucible. Every match is different but it always ends the same way. You get stuck with a team of players who are utter crap, and i'm not saying this because im mad or because im complaining, It's more of a statement! I still do well every match and have fun losing or winning, it's not taking away anything from me and my experience. I see it every time i play. one team is alright or really solid and the other is useless. The players go 3-17, 5-12, 1-14, hell, i just played a match and while i was sitting upwards of 2000 points my entire team was below 300 in clash D:, its like they weren't even there and i would probably have been better off without them. On the rare occassion both teams are evenly matched, and that is my goal here! to have all matches come down to that last kill where each team is on the verge of winning! where you sigh in relief after you win or yell at the screen because you lost! These are the best matches that anyone who loves pvp could ask for! Now, i am not trying to put these players down! I want to see everyone get better so the competition is there and this nonsense goes away once and for all. I have tips to give out and i hope you read them! If you are already good, comment down below on things i missed, because im not going to go into too much depth as i don't need to hold your hands to help you. General PVP tips and clash tips
1. Figure out your play style. first, find the class you like(i have seen great players on all 3 guardian types). Next find the gun type you like for your primary, secondary and heavy. Before even entering the crucible you should get a feel for the guns you like and play PVE to practice with them. Learn how they shoot, how they feel, how their perks work, what the recoil is like. Practice aiming for the head as this will get you more kills and save your life! 2. Once you found what you like for play style you have armor choices to improve your character on top of you skill tree(which you need to figure out on your own as well). Find armor that suits your play style. Do you like strength, intellect or discipline? well you need to make up your mind and figure out which one will benefit your play style best as this will increase your skill usage. 3. Learn the maps. If you don't understand the map layouts you are going to have a tough time. The only time i worry about spawns is at the beginning of the match when they are not randomized and can be used to wipe out an entire team given your team knows the spawns too. You will also need to figure out the lanes, where you can go to snipe and where Close quarter battles take place. All of this is relevant. 4. After learning the maps learn the ammo spawns. Other than the icebreaker and primary ammo you will need to know where the ammo packs spawn. These are useful as you never want to run out of ammo, right? Learn the heavy spawns too, these can make or break a game in an instant. 5. Radar! this one is probably the most important of all the tips i can give you to improve. Radar will save your ass more times than you wish. It will tell you who is close, who is far away and who is off your radar. Each red bar signifies who is at what range, if they are above or below you on the map(based on color of radar). Once you get a hang of reading the radar you will be nearly there! 6. The ability to switch guns on the fly. As a pvp player you never know what map you are going to play next. What guns you need are dependent on the map, especially if you prefer sniping as the maps are tiny and very close quarters. You should have an arsenal that will work anywhere! multiple guns of different types in each inventory slot will work best. You shouldn't rely on just one gun to help you out, get good with a few and you will improve. 7. HAVE FUN, I know this really isn't a tip but i have to say it. If you are not having fun you are doing it WRONG! This is your number one priority and even if you are doing terrible in every match try to enjoy it. But try to improve! don't beat yourself up if you are having a tough time as you need to play to get better. 8. My last tip, you need to practice! Gaming doesn't come naturally. i have been playing video games since i was like 6. I am well aware of how to pick up a FPS and play it. Some of you may be new to FPS's although maybe not gaming while some of you are new to it all! Well, my last tip is this - PLAY AND YOU WILL IMPROVE. I don't care what game it is, the longer you play it, the better you will get! you will eventually figure out every motion, every spawn, every AI tactic, everything! it will all eventually fall into place and you will be stunned at how good you are getting!
Skirmish tips (try to read general tips as well as they carry over)
1. If you are playing through matchmaking this mode might not be for you. Whenever i get into a skirmish match it's usually against a team of 3 friends, and they are usually good.(this is based on my own experiences) I recommend you try to avoid this game mode if you are a solo player as you will tend to lose matches due to poor communication. 2. Find a team. Stemming from tip 1, you should find 2 people you like to play with and that you can communicate with. The better you work together the more productive you will be each match. In this mode you are only as good as your team, so you need to talk and work well together. 3. When to revive, and when to re spawn. Sometimes you die in a poor location on the map. Don't burden your team by not re spawning when you can if they can't reach you. You have strength in numbers and leaving your team in a 2v3 is sloppy. The other team can also use your dead body to their advantage, trying to draw out your teammates for easy kills. 4. When you hear that heavy ammo is inbound get your ass over to it! hold your own and get the ammo. Heavy ammo is one way to make that win come a little easier. 5. My last tip for now - Stick together! Play as a team, work as a team, win as a team. I know i mentioned this is tip #2, but you and your team are a whole. When one of you fall, you become easier to pluck off bringing you closes to that loss.
Well, I hope i do not come across as too much of an ass, as i know some of you will think that. MY intentions are good and I do really want everyone who considers playing pvp to improve their skills whether it be on their own or with some help. Hop back in there guardians! HAVE FUN and lets keep enjoying this game! Edit: Thank you everyone for getting us trending! and for keeping everything respectful! I hope to continue supporting this thread for as long as it is alive. I have created a standalone website to continue supporting this thread as i can only type so much on the forums. Please check it out! It has information about classes, each game mode, important website links, links to videos and I will be adding guides to it as well when i get the chance to write them! http://crucibleguardians.weebly.com/ - gunslinger thread done in guardian blog under tips - added pages for all game modes, videos, helpful sites, guides, and contact forms - Adding support for all maps in the crucible, will take time to finish. This will include pictures with spawns, ammo points, lanes, control/relic points, etc... I am also on ps4 and my psn - Spacedublin - Eastern standard time if you want to know :p feel free to add me but please try not to spam me with invites, i sometimes like to play by myself but am more than happy to join up with you and kick some butt!

    • If you want to win in crucible then listen. The matchmaking is broken, it gives you only two options. Get together with a group of good players and destroy opposite team or play solo and lose with a 50+ kill perfection. If the game has a chance to fill a space on your team, it will. Giving you the biggest R-tard ever (Randoms never go above 0.2 K.D). Be social, make new friends, win games but most importantly have fun.

      • Will be checking out your site thanks for the tips. This is my first ever FPS and while I am getting to grips with the PVE I am finding the PVP is a huge struggle. Would be nice if there was a ranking system in the game so I don't always end up with people that are vastly superior in skill than my self then I might be actually be able to practice some thing other than re-spawning.

        • The answer is simple for me. I come from a single player/sports gaming console play. This is my first FPS. I havent played them for a decade like some. The learning curve is large. +1 for ranking system in PvP for like skilled players to learn, improve, and show off.

          • Great post. I range from sucking balls to average in crucible. I like crucible vendor guns and dead orbit armor, so I have grind crucible marks. Control is the best for causal players. Players can stay on a point and not run around blindly. Running around searching for kills is a one way ticket to death. Let the enemy come to you. Let your better players search out the enemy players.

              • If people would simply look at their radar every 10 seconds or so, it could make a world of difference. Last night I was in a game, firebase delphi, and we were on the A side in control. There was a kid sniping, hard scoping, looking at B flag on the little ledge next to special ammo spawn...Next thing you know 3 enemy players come through the side door from the outside area and kill myself and one other person, as we spawned close to the doorway. I remember trying to fight these guys off, just screaming at this dips*** to look down and help. Nope, he was too busy being fixated on the B flag where no one was, and he was soon killed. The other huge thing is knowing when to run away. If I'm in a gun fight and I get down to a 1/4 health and the other player has 3/4 or more...I'm out of there, I'll stop and run. Sure you might win 2 out of every 10 times in a situation like that if you stay, but I'd much rather regain my health and take the person on, on an even playing field. People just don't understand you can't play this game like COD or Halo, it took me a few weeks to figure that out, but once I did I'm doing 1000 better and more consistent.

                • Radar awareness, knowing the optimal range of the weapon you're using, always go for the head. Oh and one more thing... Don't Cap A on Blind Watch!!!

                    • Awareness: keep any eye on the radar, (unless it's competitive halo with no radar ;) ) anyway, if you're on you're own and see enemies don't go rushing in like an imbecile. Movement: Every game I see kids holding Sprint like it's a race, calm down, don't keep running into enemies and dying thus being a complete burden to your team. Also, work out a strafe. What I learnt from my halo days is to be unpredictable, chuck in a crouch, or if you're losing the gunfight jump either to the left or right. It'll throw off his aim and give you time to land crucial hits. Map knowledge: find jumps, escape routes, where heavy spawns. Correct me if I'm wrong heavy ammo always spawns every 2-3 minutes. So clock when it first drops, so next time you can set yourself up way near in advance. What I mean about escape routes is, if you're running from someone because nearly every kid in this game will chase you. Find routes with corners or a second floor you can jump on, it'll make it much harder for him to get any shots off from behind and most likely give up.

I genuinely shudder when I see the 'Capture 10 Zones in Control' bounty come up. I don't know why anyone with a k/d below 0.5 after a 100 games still bother in PVP and I can't imagine they enjoy having their shit pushed in over and over again. C'mon Bungie, where is that ranking system for matchmaking?

Also a tip: On Firebase Delphi DO NOT -blam!-ING JUMP FROM THE ROOF OF C THROUGH THAT WINDOW. That's a death trap for most part. Better take your time and flank through hangar or rear entrance or through the door behind....

                          • And this is why they need a PERMANENT ranked system. A mode where it matches you against people of the same rank/ skill level. This would help to even the playing field imo.

                            • Nothing ticks me off more than someone with an urge to die. It's almost like they are deliberately trying to lose or they think that shooting games are racing games. Rushing can be an effective method of slaying but when you die 3-4 times in a row then it's time to slow down. Payback gets you nothing. So many people think they can just go all out rambo style while a radar is up 24/7. While many can against shit players, it's not a good strategy especially in clash. I can go in the kitchen a make a sandwich and eat it and still have a better spread than many. Another thing that ticks me off'; people that want to dance and sit on their asses in crucible. Just smash your console with a hammer please and go play some tetherball.

                              • Skirmish matchmakes teams of equal size, if possible. So to guarantee you're playing against a team of three, go in with a team of three.

                              • Nice tips. I would recommend not to change weapons for different maps at first though, will just mess you up more. You have a primary and special that pretty much always have ammo, these should allow you to tackle any situation in the game.

                                • The game should shove the Christmas Noobs or anyone under level 15 in their own playlist so they can practice together until they hit level 18 and can legitimately earn Crucible marks. Fed up with being in the top two in many games only to lose the match because the noobs come in, don't kill anything, don't capture flags in control or just quit out the first time they are shot. Arrrhhhhhhhhhh!

                                  • It would be really nice to see some kind of ranking system. That would solve a lot of these problems. It goes both ways, I'm not very good at crucible, sometimes it feels like I'm with people who are absolute legends. They don't Iike carrying me, I don't like getting owned encounter after encounter. Ranking would help this greatly. Also thanks very much for the tips. Should help out some.

It isn't even that hard. Most of the time there are a few good players, but they lose because some of their team are just massive anchors dragging the whole team down.

                                      • Best tip I can give is to focus on not dying more than killing. Unless you're going in to finish off what your teammate/s started. Chasing a kill will more likely get you killed than getting kills. If you didn't kill them at first contact, give up, go to your next target. Your natural instinct is to instantly try again, but when they are ready for you to do exactly that, you will be the first to die. The exact opposite can be said when you see your teammate die in a firefight. If you didn't hear a super go off and you're sure you won't be outnumbered, then chances are your opponents shield is down, they are flustered from almost dying and an easy target to finish off.

I played about 10 salvage matches last night trying to get the achievment and some grimriore cards. Almost every matched I was teamed up with under level people that were just awful. I've never quit a crucible match so this was so annoying. Look at my hunter's salvage history. Its full of games where I went 36 - 5, 23 - 5, stuff like that where my teammates were seriously going 3 - 18, 2 - 20. It was awful. The last few games were good, close games.

While radar sense is invaluable, I find some people are naturally better at it, much better .... I think your tips can get anyone to be at least an average player
