Improving Destiny: Part Two – Prudence

This section covers a variety of things that just make sense. Nightfall Strikes – These fights should be challenging yet structured in such a way where players can devise a strategy to keep the minions in check while attempting to take down the boss. However, instead of having an epic battle experience similar to the Raids, players are having to hide and attack enemies from a distance to avoid being overwhelmed by minions, never mind majors or ultras, especially those armed with the elemental multiplier. Suggested change is to implement a level hierarchy for minions, majors, ultras, and boss. For instance level 30 Nightfall should consist of maybe level 26 minions, level 28 majors, and level 30 for ultras, and the boss. *Also and probably most important. Please remove Ascendant materials and strange coins from the Nightfall rewards table. This is an insult to the early adopters. Storage – I hope I’m not beating a dead horse. I know this is a repetitive topic but the Vault capacity and how players access aesthetic items needs an upgrade. Vault – should be broken up into categories and pages (tabs). For instance… • Armor and Weapons - the main page with at least 30 tiles for either category. • General – Separate page with at least 50 tiles. Do not include shaders and emblems. • Shaders and Emblems – Central repository accessible by any character from the options menu with a minimum storage of 30 tile for either category. • The Hanger – Ships and sparrows. Central repository accessible by each character from the options menu. Cut Scene Skipping – For the love of “insert comment here”, Please give us the option to bypass, skip, sidestep, circumvent cinematic. Having to watch them over and order is annoying. HUD – Add timers for the glimmer extraction items to the HUD. It should include an icon for item currently active and time remaining. Pocket Infinity - Should be more like a pulse rifle… Six (6) rounds in chamber with three (3) round bursts and required recharge in between. A slight boost to charge rate would be ideal. *Maybe replace the enhanced battery perk with accelerated coils? Excess Armor Parts – It would be nice to be able to trade excess armor parts (Plasteel Plating, Hadronic Essence, and Sapphire Wire) for currency or reputation. That’s it for now. Please leave your feedback and bump/like if you appreciate the idea(s). Look forward to Part Three – Weapon Upgrade and Customization.… Until then thanks for reading. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/90635424/0/0

  • Very good post. Here's my only suggestion if this is possible- make ascendant drops level based. Like they don't drop ascendants if you're 31 or higher, idk. Because newer players or people on alt characters definitely go through times when they need ascendant shards And I'm never going to be mad about coins. I know for a lot of people who have hundreds saved up, they're worthless, but I'm coin poor and honestly get enjoyment from scrapping for coins when Zur brings something I want. The week of icebreaker/obsidian mind, I had just blown all my coins on heavy the week before and I got a clutch coin drop from the nightfall allowing me to get both. Otherwise I would have had to choose between those two life-changing items. It was definitely a rush. I think some of the 32s who've supported the game from the start feel neglected on stuff like this because they forget how so many newer people are grinding through the ranks they once were.

The thing with Nightfall though really speaks more to the overall design of the game. Even without it being the nightfall pretty much all the bosses are bullet sponges with the player needing to hide behind a box. This is because players can die in 1-2 hits. If players had more survive ability it would change the way you play. Then you have dynamics in the encounter design that make the player move. Honestly the only encounter that I feel is good right now is Deathsinger. Players move. The encounter has multiple parts/stages and there is an interesting pace that builds to a frantic "just rush in there and kill the B$&@!" And actually the Abyss is kind of cool in that it has the fireteam moving and shooting. The other thing with Nightfalls now, is that once you hit lv30/31 and have proper elemental damage weapons and know the tricks to each encounter, they are stupid easy! My fireteam and I find the weekly to be more of a chore because it's basically the Nightfall without burn so it takes longer. (Except not this week) There needs to be an overall rethink of the entire design of levels and encounters IMO. Not to mention loot progression is pathetic. Progression is too spiky and then at the end tip a lame grind to the point that power gamers were deleting and re leveling characters of all the same class. That right there should indicate a serious flaw in progression. EDIT: added thoughts about exotics. I won't even get into owning multiple exotics and how in the end game legendary weapons become more valuable because YOU CAN ONLY use 1 Exotic at a time!!! There is almost zero meaningful choice because the game structure forces the player into using specific items. Like Gajallahorn for example. It's awesome. So the answer is why do the other heavies suck(over exaggerating but still) and how do you make them all as viable as Gajalla? Meaningful player choice is when they are faced with two clearly correct answers and pick the one that suits them best. Ugh

      • I especially like the idea of the HUD item for glimmer extraction. I'd love to see this applied to any/all temporary buffs.

        • Some nice ideas here, especially concerning the vault. I don't know what Bungies intentions on that aspect are (since they never care to put them into words) but I love to collect all those different legendaries and exotics. After all I put quite some work into getting them (one way or another)

        • I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain why you need to watch cinematics multiple times
