An idea for the Arc Warlock Subclass -The Lightsmith (concept)

As the name says this is a suggestion for an Arc Warlock subclass I wanted to create a class that focuses more on the warlock playing the run and gun game where the focus on recovery and speed is a need rather then an afterthought. Warlock Subclass-Lightsmith Type-Arc Tier 1- Sentinel Light- Throw a Spark of light and spawn a turret of light. Ghost Seekers- Lob a grenade that separates into 3 ghost seekers that hunt down enemies and detonate on death. Radiant Lightning- The grenade anchors to a surface then blinds all enemies in the area then detonates. Tier 2- Glide-Same as Other Classes Focused Control- Same as Other Classes Focused Burst- Same as Other Classes Arc Pad- Before jumping into the air you are launched into the air by a deployable jump pad that allies may use as an extra jump. Tier 3- Eye of the Traveler- Call forth a blast of pure light that goes through any barrier or wall. Rays of Light- When the eye of the traveler is call down it strikes in a 3 pattern strike. Cleansing Burn- When enemies are struck by Eye of the Traveler they suffer DOT Arc damage Fragments of light- Shards of hard light explode from the point of impact damaging farther enemies Tier 4- Arc Light- Fires a bolt of arc lightning that decrease in damage the farther it travels. Power Overwhelming-Upon killing an enemy with melee charge Arc Light faster, If Arc Light kills an enemy double the recharge bonus. Traveler’s Reach-Damage is always the same no matter the distance Overload-Enemies who die have a chance to fork out lightning to other enemies Tier 5- Arcane Wisdom- Same as Other Classes Arcane Spirit- Same as Other Classes Arcane Force- Same as Other Classes Tier 6- Focusing Light-Increase the Size of the Eye of the Traveler Renewed Light- Increase the Duration of all the grenades effects. Final Light-When Arc Light kills an enemy an orb of light is generated. Tier 7- Ancestral Order- Same as Other Classes Chaos Order- Same as Other Classes Divine Order- Same as Other Classes Tier 8- Forge of Light-Adds an extra turret and spawn additional ghost seekers . Embrace of the Traveler-When using Eye of the Traveler all allies gain a temp shield. Force of Light-When arc light hits a turret or ghost seeker it amplifies its damage.     • All the classes are balanced as they are. Not giving access to one damage type per Class is a way to balance the game and help players realize that some classes are better at taking down some enemies compared to others.

      • Warlocks are very strong as it is. Giving them this kind of power would make the other classes useless. Nice ideas though but I wouldn't want them. It would break the game's balance. And this is coming from a warlock.

              • The eye of the traveler sounds really cool, but I think it would be buggy, and kinda useless. Maybe the same thing, except aimed at enemies

                      • cool concept but you aren't taking into consideration balance or game mechanics sorry man gotta give this a big thumbs down this class is completely unbalanced and tries to use mechanics that don't exist in the game i get that that is creative freedom but one a turret grenade will never be balanced in this game and the super is an offensive attack like novabomb or foh but also grants all nearby allies shields and the melee has whatever range and can hit multiple people dude think about what you are writing the only aspects of this that are both original and seem balanced are the second tier grenades and the reason they work is because all it is is an arc version of axion bolt. dude when you design a character concept for a pre- existing game you have to take it seriously and make it mesh with the other things already in the game. so first let me say i love the idea and im not trying to be insulting by knockin on it. i just feel that if you want your concept to get noticed your going to have to make it a balanced and viable as possible, and i see from the things you put into it some thought was put into trying to utilize pre-existing game mechanics you just missed the mark a bit for starters the turret grenade would be entirely too powerful, and this is coming from a guy who views grenades as the great equalizer in in pvp for this game. a turret grenade would essentially allow you to spawn an ally to help you take down multiple targets that would be engaging you and if it would a true turret it would aim and that is way more powerful than any existing grenade because you can just throw it and forget and it will rack up damage on allies even if they move. all of the pre-existing grenades with the exception of axion bolt you have to place them correctly to put damage on targets the turret you would only have to give it line of sight even axion bolt you can out maneuver. the second big problem with the build is the super as a whole you are trying to give this super extreme damage potential and the defensive capability of the bubble the problem there is that the bubble shield is a completely defensive ability so being able to gift allies with bonus damage or a shield makes sense because you cant actually get kills with the super i would say from what you are indicating that you really want the super to take the form of a dps super such as the foh from striker and the nova bomb of the warlock, and it wouldnt take much to accomplish this first eliminate allies gaining a shield from the ability and instead replace it with something like this as a basic alteration of the super if you are on the ground the super is centered on your character almost like foh if you are in the air the strike is aimed at where your recital is pointed and the strike always hits from directly above its specified point of impact. this would give this ability the chance to ignore most types of cover while still making it avoidable like all other supers are second since this super would be substantially harder to avoid then most others i would say reduce the area that it effects a little and make it a really powerful dot almost like a super powered vortex or solar grenade so it kills extremely quickly but if you get out of it really fast you can survive it the area of effect perk you chose actually would be quite viable and i really like that idea ok so instead of the shield perk you chose what i would say is if you chose to activate the super from the ground and center it on yourself reduce the damage and area a little more and you gain an overshield basically in close quarters you would get a shield and the area around you would be doing dot damage plus you would probably be pretty hard to see and honestly that seems pretty freaking awesome while still being completely balanced. last lose the jump pad idea man its really cool but it would never be implemented id say just go with blink and the melee you going to have to get rid of no damage drop off from range thats op even the throwing knife loses damage because of range just go with like frazzle or somethis that allows you to have two melee cool downs its a really good perk for hunter why not for you. so all in all your idea for an arc bases warlock is pretty good just do a little fine tuning to make it balanced and playable and who knows bungie might just ask you if they can use it. love the enthusiasm and its great to see other who really do love this game as much as i do even with its countless problems. feel free to hit me up if you ever want to shoot some more character ideas my way ive been designing classes and figuring out balance for a long time for things like dungeons and dragons and its something i really enjoy. i hope my advice was helpful keep it up man

                              • Of all the Third subclass ideas for the warlock I have seen, this one seems the most possible. I like most of the ideas. I appreciate the new jump variety, but "jump pad" seems like an oversimplification of this idea. Something similar with "arc" or "light" in the name may be good. Also perhaps switch out one of the Melee later tier abilities to be opposite of the damage reduction over distance one. Imagine something like "slows the farther it travels and increases in power." Just an idea I thought of.
