If destiny, like dark souls, has a story based solely on inferrence then here are some theories I have pondered. The Aegis and Kabr - The Aegis(relic) I believe is what remains of Kabr and his Ghost. Kabr took pieces of the Hezen Vex and built them onto his ghost to make a shield against the will of the oracles. Kabr filled his body with the Light and gave up his life to power the Aegis for his fellow guardians. It cannot stop the oracles or the will of the vault, it can only slow it down. Praedyth, the time lost - Praedyth was a guardian from an unknown time. He too went into the Vault of glass in hopes of uncovering its secrets. Praedyth discovered many things in the vault including its links to all of time. Praedyth used these streams but is now stuck in them. He skipped across time like a stone atop water until he stopped stuck somewhere in between. He exists yet he has ceased to exist. I believe it is him that sends us the relics in the Vault and he sends the Revenge a weapon of his own design built from the Vex. Merely my opinions on the vault from someone who has spent a little to much time there. Merry whatever Guardians and happy new year.

I am sure you have many questions, guardian. I could tell you about the VoG. I could tell you stories of the battles within. But, I don't have time to explain, why I can't explain. Highly doubt Bungie has much depth in mind. I think they were cryptic because they had a shallow story.
