So I think a lot of people would agree that legendaries and exotics aren't entirely unobtainable at this stage in the game, with people (including myself) who are now just being hoarders and trying to get all the exotics.. I've seen a number of threads in the forums and heated discussions about how exotics aren't rare enough (or that they aren't supposed to be). Everyone now has a collection of exotics, well at least most people. Which is actually fine with me, doesn't really bother me so much. Now imagine you came across someone in the game walking around with a different coloured background weapon or armour piece (say a dark grey or red background), and you see it says "Mythic Weapon/Armour". It looks so cool and is unique as hell and upon asking the guardian how they came to obtain such a wonder, they tell you a wonderful little story about how they managed to complete this unusual/insanely difficult task/challenge and was awarded with it. Such feats could include 100%ing the trophies in the game, 77,777 kills in crucible, Fully upgrading all subclasses for 3 guardians of different races, anything that isn't easily done AT ALL. Now this is where a piece of armour or a weapon could [i]truly[/i] tell a story (what Bungie originally explained the exotic/legendary weapons would do). We could maybe actually become [i]Legend[/i]. Rather than "Oh I bought it from Xur" or "I got it in crucible when I was playing pretty badly", they could tell you an amazing story about how they completed the raid without using their jump ability once, or using only uncommon weapons, or opened all 7 chests in the raid without dying or something even more crazy that noone would ever think of even trying to do! Like really tough easter eggs but with more of a sense of accomplishment. :) Hell, they don't even have to have game/balance breaking abilities or stats, I just want something rare as hell that'd make my guardian the envy of the tower, I want to be a special little snowflake and I think a lot of you do too. ;) Just throwing some ideas out there..
