This game is very much not Halo. Just look at this video. They've introduced ADS with LT as the new zoom, ruined the iconic voice over of Halo multiplayer, and taken aspects from other shooters to try to "progress" and "adapt to a new audience."
343 has taken many things that have made Halo unique and has thrown it all away. Halo was iconic for its method of scoping, however 343 has decided to trash what made Halo especially unique and add in the ADS that every other game has. Another thing that made Halo iconic was armor abilities. Ever since Halo 3 had the pseudo, one-time-use armor abilities they became a big part of the game in Reach, and they lived on in Halo 4, only now without sprint, which became a permanent feature, bubble shield, or armor lock which was terribly overused in reach. 343 even added in many new AA's like the shield, Promethean Vision, and the auto turret. Now in Guardians that's so far all gone. There is a single armor ability (it may only be the BETA but at this point you'd assume there to be many more) and it's a variation of Evade/Thruster Pack that is similar to the Titan Fall and CoD: AW thruster features. This ground pounding thing is entirely confusing as well, where did this come from? It seems like a strange turn in gameplay for Halo.
So far what has been shown in the BETA is a disappointment. I don't know what 343 was thinking. This might just be the BETA, but this game is not looking good, at least for me. 343 might have felt the need to change and try to be drastically new, but honestly that doesn't work. Just look at the CoD games. The subtle changes that had been implemented game to game has previously always been (mostly) welcome, but they were always fairly unique to Halo. Halo 5 feels like it's trying too hard to be like other FPS's in order to appeal to a wider audience.
Anyways, rant over. Feel free to discuss Halo 5: Guardians in the comments. Please feel free to tell me your thoughts.

Lol impressive necrobump

There's this things games do in order to remain relevant. It's called Evolve. Look into it.
-
I never played the BETA but I enjoy the regular game
-
Halo 5: ok now you can feel like a Spartan finally edition.
-
Call of Halo: Titanfall edition
-
The more I see Halo 5 the less I'm starting to like it.
Another thing that made Halo iconic was armor abilities.
Your opinion no longer matters.
-
Also this post is super cringe-worthy looking at it now…
-
343i killed Halo.

When since its been bumped I'll say that at this point in time I have played Halo 5 and it has a very fun multiplayer and by switching the control scheme to "Halo 4" everything is fine and it feels crisp and great.

I always changed my buttons to use LT to ADS anyway. Every fps I play I pretty much use the same button layout. And I'm sure there's an option for "classic" mode. They have to adapt to a changing market or die. I'd rather see the franchise adapt and change and prosper than stay the same old bullshit and fall apart and die.
-
Dont really use ads for weapons like the assault rifle anyway. The other changes are alright, just want to know what BTB would be like.
-
Oh my god guys stop bumping this
-
A little disappointed in the ADS replacing zoom. Other than that, these changes are fine by me.

Edited by Pfhortnite: 2/4/2015 4:27:55 PMNo, it's still very much Halo. The core is still there, they've just built off of it in new and interesting ways. Oh, and armor abilities are ass and have no place in Halo.
-
This is Halo Advance Fall
-
It seems like it's more of an arcade game now
-
Explain to me what you want of Halo 5 that isn't a Halo 2/3 reskin
-
>Hasn't even played the beta lol shut up OP
Another thing that made Halo iconic was armor abilities.
wut

Edited by Unyielding: 1/1/2015 6:04:40 PM
Another thing that made Halo iconic was armor abilities
Is this bait? Armor abilities are what almost got Halo killed in the first place, and you (who hasn't even played this Beta) are judging it while saying that blasphemy?
Everything you say isn't even valid because you're a lolarmor ability lover
If you expect 343i to make a quality product, or even to maintain a quality product, you shouldn't expect much based off their track record.

Hey, look. It's Spartanfall. I realize that they're trying to market to a new audience, but this is the same audience that will drop them when the next big shooter comes out. What they seem to forget is that they already have an audience that will stick with the game for being Halo, and frankly, that gameplay isn't Halo. Expect this to happen again, except now with even fewer old fans. They'll stick with the MCC.

I can't believe you'd actually expect 343 industries to do something right. Halo 4 was a clear enough indication as to where the future of the series was headed...... No where. Bungie was the only companies that could have successfully kept it going and now they're probably struggling to keep Activision from -blam!-ing up Destiny. We as gamers need to do something about Activision. Complaining on forums isn't going to do anything about it. I suggest we find a way to get gamers to boycott anything with Activision's name involved. We'll have to get recognition and then strike right before the next CoD game comes out. They're already starting to get a bad reputation and the CoD series is starting to die. To have a big movement rising against them would should hurt their sales significantly. This uproar will also hurt copy cat games like halo 5 and possibly new battlefields.
