Am I doing something wrong?
So, I've been playing destiny for around a month and I still have no legendaries. I'm level 24 purely off of blues. Anyway I wanted to know what I possibly be doing wrong as I cannot EVER seem to get one. At this point it feels like Bungie is playing a sick joke on me :( please help.

I would like to formally announce that I finally got a legendary. Ironically, I got it from a decoherent engram. Anyway, thanks to everyone for the tips and tricks shared; I still would not have one without them. Also thank you Bungie for allowing me to get a legendary. ;)

Buy the faction armor(Crucible is fastest) level up until you get to 26, do the raid every week, level up any raid gear you find, rinse and repeat until you get to 29 and now do the raid HM until you have at least three raid pieces and an exotic from RNG or Xur and now you can reach 30.

Best advice is get your faction ranks up and buy legendary items from them with marks. Tiger Strikes (24 Vanguard Strike) do drop quite a few.

Edited by Lord__Nazul: 11/6/2014 8:24:54 PMYou can buy them from factions. If you like PvP you will have a lot of options. For PvE only stick with Vanguard and run level 24 tiger strikes. I got my first legendary from the queens wrath back when it was going. The rest of my armor I bought from the vanguard or Xur. I noticed that at level 26 and up I got a lot of legenaries. I think there is a higher drop rate on legendary engrams on the daily and weekly missions.

You're high enough to earn some Strange Coins from the weekly, do that and earn Vanguard and Crucible marks to purchase Legendary gear...It's what I had to do to get to Raid level....and then you get to take it in the rear from the Raid RNG for a while...Bring your own lube

I don't think I've gotten a legendary drop... I have a full Vanguard set from strikes & daily events. soy yeah, use Vanguard marks to get gear.

Edited by accounting4u: 11/6/2014 8:15:28 PMIf I could I would give you some. This one exotic weapon equipped requirement, while it makes sense, is annoying. I am sitting on 13 or so exotic weapons and I really see no need to use anything but icebreaker/gjallarhorn for PvE.

I've got 34 hours clocked, only a few hours being PvP, and only one Legendary. Do lots of bounties and strikes, still just one.

2 RepliesEdited by SPITRAT: 11/6/2014 8:07:14 PMYou need to do some Vanguard Tiger strikes and get the 6 Vanguard marks per completed mission. You can get up to 100 vanguard marks per week. You will get a bunch of blue engrams from the strike which will increase your chance of getting a legendary drop. You really need to at least get some legendary armor and weapons so you can do the Weekly Heroic and eventually the Nightfall. That is where the real loot is before the raid. (which I have yet to do yet, the raid that is).

Pick up some bounties and go to the Crucible or Vanguard Strikes. It'll help occupy your time while you're not actively searching for loot.

You need to grind out rep for The Vanguard and get to rank 2 and buy your own legendary armor. You can't rely on RNG alone or you'll never get anywhere.

Buy some armour off of the vanguard. After I got my helmet the rest started coming in drips and drabs.

The only for sure way is to rank vanguard, crucible, or a faction. You will be stuck forever if you are relying on drops. So yes you are doing it was wrong. Best thing to do is grind tiger strikes.

3 Replies> Do the Vanguard bounties often > Do Tiger Strikes often > Reach Rank 2-3 Vanguard so you can purchase legendaries.

Hit the loot ca... Oh yeah, never mind. Vanguard and crucible points and then buy them. I've had ONE legendary drop for armor. In the raid... So yeah. Good luck man. I feel your pain. I've bought most of my stuff from Xur or the other vendors.

the problem is you seemed to have joined destiny 1 week too late. I bought the game day one. I was in purple the day before the first patch went into effect. Purples dropped in almost every run I made once getting to level 20. Then came the Loot monsters, and they had to break the game. These a-holes ruined the experience for everyone else. Hence why there was a patch on the loot cave, and drops in general. Now purples are very hard to come by. The RNG range for purples was drastically cut. The best chance for a purple is the Nightfall. Though with energy and shards being purple now, the chances for a good something out of the nightfall is slim, but the best chance you got. (nightfall rewards from my viewing them is 5-12 assended gear or one purple/gold piece. You can thank the A-HOLES that have to break the game day one for your bad experience.

The thing that helps is to play with a group of friends. Just doing things solo really isn't efficient. I had the same problem since I usually play all games solo and do my own thing. I thought I'd never get to do the vault because that means making friends and sending out invites. Now I've got so many people on my friends list I am never alone now. People are always popping in and out of my mission and inviting me to run raid with them. And keep working on getting vanguard rank up and buy a piece of armor when you reach rank 3. You can easily earn vanguard marks doing strikes and the Daily events as well as weekly.

1 ReplyDo not rely on drops EVER in this game. Pick a faction or Vanguard/Crucible and rank it up. Buy your gear and then earn Raid gear in the raid (still random but higher chances than getting a legendary out in the wild.)

2 RepliesNever rely on purple engrams. Join a faction get points for that faction and buy the armor. Whether its vanguard, crucible, new monarchy, future war cult, or dead orbit pick one you want to level and earn points for so you can get your legendaries. Afterwards start running Raids, Tiger Strikes, and daily/weekly activities like Nightfall to further earn you new gear and weapons.
