an easy fix to the lack of gear variety

(If you would like to skip a portion of the story skip to paragraph 3 for where the details begin on how this fix begins) as a person in college getting a degree and slowly learning all the ins and outs of the gaming industry i have passed around some ides with my colleges and they seems to agree that the lack of personalization in this game seems to get on most peoples nerves since armor all cap out at about the same level the only difference being the variety of armor bonuses so here I go with the explanation. most armor of value in the game is legendary or purple, the only thing better than purple is exotic which is yellow but exotics are almost on par with most legendary and i will address them later in this post but for now lets keep with legendary and under. i got a nice weapon at the beginning of the game that was a common rifle similar to a futuristic m4 and as i leveled up it became of no use to me but i hung onto it for place value and aesthetics alone. now being level 30 i wish i could use it again with the lack of choice in weapon variety at the moment, now stay with me here is where it gets good. what if i could level that weapon up through the rankings of common,uncommon,rare, and finally legendary the easiest implementation in the game they could do is allow for upgrades like this. and this applies for armor as well, now I'm not saying make new vendors I'm saying use current thing in game and things to come in the DLC for just this! in the upcoming dark below DLC they are giving us the resources to upgrade current exotics to be on par with the new level 32 exotic weapons and armor you will receive in the DLC. funny they are on the right path of ideas with this but why limit it to only exotics if anything this is how th list would go for upgrades that count for both weapons and armor common to uncommon = basic upgrade with right materials uncommon to rare = basic upgrade with minimum kill requirement before upgrade allowed rare to legendary = basic upgrade for movement to legendary title but to fully upgrade need certain amount of kills of raid specific enemies and raid upgrade parts as apposed to shards or energy only one required to reach next level legendary to legendary level 32 = get more raid upgrade parts. these ideas in turn give purpose to certain bounty's that are really easy give people to actually do the raid more than once hopefully not for a random drop but the guaranteed drop of raid upgrade parts so purpose is given back to these things gear - is now not worthless after a certain level gear - now has a story of struggle to them people - now look semi different from each other level 30 - is accessible by different means than wearing a single set of armor bounty's - have another purpose besides a little boost in experience glimmer - may be put into the gunsmith and the cryptarc to get a certain looking armor you want to work on leveling people - will spend more time in your game working towards being their own legend... overall - a better system for gear in general edit 1 - user HMTKSteve http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/76742770/0/0/1 he had a great idea to implement as an extra if they have the means to add this in game without much difficulty. a kill count with your weapon to add more variety on perks your gun gets as well as restrict the speed at which you level your weapons up toward the desired end goal of legendary. on top of that the amount of kills towards different enemy's grant bonuses towards certain enemy types akin to damage on specific areas of that enemy (Example) So at 1,000 kills a white becomes a green. 5,000 a green becomes a blue. 10,000 a blue becomes legendary and at 25,000 it becomes exotic? Might not want it to become exotic because... Restrictions. (Example2) kills against certain enemy type = more damage towards this type or overall kills give you access to different perks you can re roll from on your gun edit 2 - user SugaComa http://www.bungie.net/en/User/Profile/6825616 with a little discussion on light levels we came to agree on a simple format that could give more uses to motes of light as well as actually completing the night fall and weekly more than once as well as strike bosses (Example) legendary light levels stage one being 2 motes X amount of kills specific enemy type stage two being 4 motes X amount of kills specific enemy type and X amount of head shots stage three being 6 motes X amount of kills specific enemy type and a random or weekly strike boss stage four 1 mote and complete the nightfall stage five - Exotic??? debatable not necessarily needed,if possible might need a new class perhaps with a creative name like the myth class where you name your gear! would like to also thank all the support we made the trending page for quite some time lets see if we can keep it up and get the word out and get this idea in the hands of at least DeeJ! if you like this idea of have comments on how this idea can be improved upon leave a constructive comment or constructive criticism on how this idea could change or if i missed something
