All right guys, this needs to stop... now. (AFKing in strikes/strike playlists)
Every single time I go to Vanguard Tiger or even just Sepkis Prime on level 8, about 3/5 times there is at least one AFKer sitting at the spawn for who knows how long, not doing anything, one even had the audacity to walk AROUND where the mission was, not even helping me and another random out at all, he was off derping with some cabal phalanxes and collecting relic iron the whole mission (This guy was a level 29, and your telling me he couldn't even help out once? For like 2 minutes?).
I'm not even going to give out any names, they know who they are.
I have come across this situation numerous times since playing Destiny, from when I was a level 8 playing my first strike mission IN THE BETA...
Please fix this Bungie. :( (Maybe a vote-kick player then another will match make and join?)
P.S. Also, anyone who fails at their complete a strike without dying bounty, on a level 8 sepkis prime, while a level 25+, 5 minutes in, you can at least play through the dang thing and finish it, not just ragequit.

If both other team members are afk I report and leave. If only one is afk I report but continue playing with the other member who is actually contributing. This seems yo be happening more and more since Christmas, like people have told any newcomers "oh yeah you can just stand still on the strikes and still get rewards" bungie needs to address this more than anything!

2 Points (note - I never AFK) 1 - Ppl do this b/c they want the loot but are bored with the strikes. This leads me to my next point... 2 - PVE is sooo boring now. Same strikes/raids and enemies spawn in the same spots - even on patrol. This is why I only play PVP now - working on getting a positive K/D. I might be bad but at least I have fun in Crucible.

I pissed off a guy that was messing around instead of proceeding in the strike by deploying my bubble of doom right before he fired his rocket launcher....so long bounty! He sent me some hate mail that I still enjoy reading.

I had a really bad one today. It was an Omnigul run with this player, KSI Legion JR. I finished with 171 kills, another guy with 151, he with 27. Why so low? Because he spent the whole time in his sparrow, trying to run over his teammates. He succeeded in killing us 7 times by my count. Its bad enough to not contribute, but having to two man the strike AND protect ourselves from our teammate. My favorite part was when his sparrow was destroyed, and he walked back so he could summon a new one and start over. Avoiding all of KSI from now on.

I think the underlying problem isn't AFKers (which of course is a problem) but the actual problem is the loot system. RNG needs to go. What if they did points in PvE similar to points in PvP? You get a certain amount of points for each enemy which is normal enemy, major enemy and ultra enemy. Points for using a super. Points for damage to the boss. Then, at the end of a round the person with the highest points, gets a better chance at loot, while the AFKer will 0 points (or next to none) and would result in a significant less chance for loot.

I will usually die once just to screw them up if they afk the whole strike.

I had one guy do that too. Just run around the spawn killing enemies. One guy departed cause of it, i ran back to punch the guy doing nothing and he just kept doing his thing so i left and i reported him for being unhelpful.

4 RepliesI've never had this problem, but seeing as a lot of people are complaining, it must be happening. Question: Don't people get disconnected due to inactivity after so long? Or does that not apply in strikes?

Other games automatically kick you if you're idle.

Just do what I do smack them into combat and kill them over and over then hit them with sparrow.

1 ReplyIf afk for a certain amount of time, it should result in an account ban for at least 2 hours. If it's a legit afk, then go to orbit and don't waste other people's time
