There is no level advantage in Iron Banner!
I've played 6 matches now where it seemed to be going fine as the lowest level was a 25. I'm level 29 with 1430 armor. Now this last match I was still getting one shotted by a level 11 carrying a fusion rifle that does 109 damage. When level advantages are off it makes sense why I die but what nonsense is this?
How is this justified as a level advantage?

Edit: As on 10/12 Bungie has silenty reduced the amount of crucible rep gained from losing a match from 12 down to 9. It already blew enough when you don't get the Iron Banner win, but now we get less rep for losing too?

Level 16 running around with a shotgun that does 79 dmg. It one hits mea nd the rest of my team. This is just trash thanks bungie

Exactly their pvp needs a complete overhaul.... I absolutely hate cod but I have to say at least the average player wasn't being owned by lv9 noobs in cod you could tell top rank vs just starting out people. Literally I created a new character took the gun from the very beginning the very first gun gave it to my lv 28 and rank 2-4 with it all day what a load of bs I shouldn't be able to kill anyone with that thing it only deals 20 attack.

It makes no sense to me either. I'm level 28 with maxed out everything and I'm still getting killed by level 12's with fusion rifles and shotguns. If my gear mattered, this shouldn't be happening. I also don't like how they hyped up Iron Banner as this whole "test your gear and strength" when I have to rely on my team to win. If I'm testing my skill, wouldn't it make more sense to do a free-for-all game type? Add to that the fact that the losing team does not get any kind of Iron Banner rep at all is disgusting and enables people to leave mid-match if their team is losing. And Bungie does NOTHING to punish those players who leave their team high and dry. It'd be a little different if this event came with team-chat and you could coordinate with your team but Bungie leaves you voiceless and unable to try and talk to your team. This event is a joke and Bungie needs to fix it immediately if they're going to do another one. The gear that they're giving for it isn't even worth it.

3 RepliesIf you read it carefully the damage of your weapons and protection for armour only takes into account the Max level cap without light, so anything after lvl 20 won't improve a thing...all these ideas of whats happening here and there when this is the answer...your welcome

Eh.... The level advantages are there. For one you have access to stronger weapons. As a 28 I melt anyone below 26 with pure ease.

3 RepliesMy guess is the same dmg scales are in place. here is a bit from a post in our clan forums for Mobs. I bet they did the same thing in PVP so that any lvl can play. Let me know what you think but this would explain why they were still killing you at lower lvls your damage SCALES DOWN TO THAT OF THE ENEMY if you're higher lvl than it (that's why your bullet damage text is grey) and you do reduced damage if you're not the level of your enemy (the same goes for your armor, it scales down to your enemy and you'd take the same damage at lvl 28 as you would lvl 20 from a lvl 4 mob on earth, this is harder to test but trust me, I've done some visual tests and confirmed it) 4 lvl or lower below mob: 100% damage penalty 3 lvl below mob: ~52% damage penalty 2 lvl below mob: ~42% damage penalty (guesstimate since I didn't have the gear to put me to lvl 22) 1 lvl below mob: ~32% damage penalty 0 lvl below or higher than mob: 0% damage penalty TL:DR your light levels affect BOTH your damage output and how much damage you take only UP TO the level of the mobs (i.e. if you're lvl 28, you'll do the same damage and take the same amount of damage from lvl 20 mobs as you would from lvl 24 mobs, there is ZERO difference)

Edited by SoloPopo: 10/7/2014 5:13:48 PMShotguns are still shotguns. Your gear only helps you so much. Some things just always kill you; for instance, a point blank shotty. Direct rocket launcher hits and unshielded sniper headshots most likely one shot as well.

Yea I was running a level 2 and owning fools with the default shotgun during Iron Banner before the servers went down on that stinkbug error

Me too, I'm level 30 with a maxed vex and I do the same damage as in regular crucible , 41 in the body and 51 in the head, and I'm getting owNed by lv 23, lv 15 with blue and green weapons , how in life, this game lies me to so much
