Fresh FPS Run and Gunner seeks help

Hello fellow Guardians! I am in need of some advice for those so enlightened to help me. Destiny is just a small ways away, and with the release of the Live Action trailer, my small group of friends and I have been absolutely hyped up for our first steps into the game. Having been in the Beta we had some fond memories and great times. Though when it came down to it, I always felt like I had some problems that costed my group more than helped. Those in my group know very well that I am horrible with FPS games, and why I have only dabbled in Borderlands and maybe a single round of EVE's Dust 514. With this game coming out I feel like it has breathed new life into the Genre and I am wanting to learn more than ever to help give our local FPS Hero a breather or two from me getting dropped more times than is probably necessary. For those who are more seasoned in the realm of games such as Destiny (or FPS games in general) what are some good tips to keep in mind? My primary problem is I often find myself "Noob Spraying" or running into situations and getting close to a full on kill but dying before confirming the kill(s). I had a friend who had me use a scout rifle, resulting in more precision kills but did nothing for to help with my failed attempts at Run and Gunning (I have never really been a fan of camping). I also tend to do a "reverse" circle of death, often times running/jumping backwards trying to kill opponents resulting in getting trapped with my timely demise following soon after. I've read up on the PSN forums for a while trying to get a good grasp of what I have going wrong for me, and the linked page I had above seemed to help me out a lot. It is pretty clear though that I need a lot more practice. I am hoping this second play through that trying out the Titan a bit more will help with my preferred play style more than the Warlock who I always seemed to miss-fire my AoE grenade ability, often times missing groups entirely or throwing it into a wall while strafing. I know now that I probably should be trying to fly and nuke downward, which is a lesson I hope to carry over into the next phase of the game. Thanks in advance for any help!
