That's like a high school Bball player that loves Bball but Hates NBA..
I hate how it's casual vs. competitive (hardcore) players in the forums..
Shouldn't we be helping each other to make a game that we all love to be better?
How can private matches hurt or spoil the fun for casual gamers?
Edit: well at least we ALL agree, that private matches won't hurt anyone by adding it to the game. Thank you for the posts, I have a bigger understanding for both sides.

To make things worse. Private matches arn't even a competitive only thing. Remember custom games? Michael meyers? Remember Red vs Blue, Machinimas. Or just playing with you're freinds and against them in general? All gone. Theres no point in voting no against a system that is not only easy to implement, but will help the game and community wether you play PvP or not.

I don't hate MLG, I just don't know if it has a place in this game. This isn't a pvp game. It is a pve game first and foremost with a side dish of pvp. I think that's been the hardest thing for people to grasp, mainly because of it being a FPS, and most FPS games are pvp based.

Edited by Astro4545: 8/16/2014 12:04:55 AMWe don't we hate MLGs.

I'm not sure its hate, whether it is in release or added later shouldn't be a problem, but I feel a lot of people don't want Destiny to be like halo or cod. Just cause its a fps and has PvP doesn't mean it has to be MLG. Most would like a casual game to play with out having to worry about their k/d. Now this is my opinion and like they say opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Have a good one

I tried to say in another post, even with private matches this game is not suitable for MLG. I am pretty sure it was never intended to be. For this PvP to be "allowed" in MLG or even game battles they would have to disable so much of it because of all the imbalances the essence of the gameplay would be lost, and you'd probably end up with one class and a half dozen guns. ime

I don't think they hate MLG. I think they hate the dbags spouting mlg as the end all be all to the game. The ones that are so pvp focused as if kdr and mlg is the only way to measure a game. Those types, while possibly good at a game, come across as giant pieces of shite and thereby garner instant pushback by everyone except others of thier kind. Which would be dbags.

I don't hate MLG or private matchmaking. I personally think its a good idea even if I more than likely won't be in MLG

Do you make money playing games? I'd be willing you to bet you don't. That my good sir, means you are a casual as well. Anyone that read my post the other day about this is laughing right now. I'll say it again. Steps to becoming "MLGPRO" 1. Register on a website. 2. Use the word "casual" a whole bunch. Thank you very much for proving my point. May your bacon always fry evenly.

They are still butt hurt from halo 3
That's like a high school Bball player that loves Bball but Hates NBA..
It's more like the NBA players coming along and saying "LOL!!! You only play occasionally? How pathetic." There's fault on both sides though, you get the obvious whiners that call people who play to win 'Tryhards'. In short, Casuals don't hate MLG. Whiney teenagers hate people better than them and bigheaded idiots wind up people worse than them.

If you Want pm play another game done deal :0
-
for me, it's not that I dislike them... it's that MLG players tend to be the loudest most self centered people in a community... and it's annoying...
-
I haven't heard a single person say they hate MLG.
-
first, dont call me "casual" im as "pro" as the rest of them. Second, ever since cod and mlg and that shit, all I can think of MLG is that they are whiner "OHHHHH QUIKSKOPD U SKRUB" or "OH MY GOD WHAT THE -blam!- THAT MOTHER -blam!-ING HACKER"
-
Edited by gingernutty: 8/16/2014 12:02:02 AMBecause the acronym itself has lost all meaning. When I hear "MLG": I think of tweenagers playing CoD and screaming how "MLG" they are when they throw a knife at someone 5 metres away. The idea of MLG itself is a bloody joke. Edit: Furthermore, any gamer that claims to be hardcore is a mongoloid. It's a title given by children when playing games, I'm a WoW enthusiast yet you don't see me claiming to be a hardcore gamer. Calling yourself hardcore is just cringeworthy, mate...
-
The reason I believe they hate MLG players is they hate is how a player is better than them. But if your profession is being a "Pro Gamer" it makes you sound like a -blam!-ing fruit, or how competitive players get payed millions is pathetic and it's considered a "sport".
-
MLG will just remove any random factor like in halo and that can be hard because almost anything is a random factor in destiny. I would be boring as hell to see and play it. (Same as in halo IMO)
-
What does it matter? This game could never make the circuit in the first place. The supers alone guarantee that.
-
I don't know. Why do "MLG" players use the word casual every chance they get?
-
>implying only "casuals" hate MLG lol...
-
Fuk mlg feggots
-
because 1. they jealous 2. MLG's have terrible attitudes towards casuals. It's like the NBA players hating their Bball playing fans just because they aren't as good as them. And private games wouldn't hurt casuals at all. Anyone who says they don't want and option in game (such as custom matches of proxy chat) are hindering the enjoyment of others for no reason. hense, it being an option... as in, no you don't have to do it
-
MLG Because Starcraft is to difficult and they can't D,DF,F-X
-
"Casuals" don't hate "Competitive" gamers. They hate the matter-of-fact attitude that PvP is the be all, end all of gaming and that any game that doesn't bend over backwards to tailor to the competitive community is an utter failure. You can't show up to a game that is arguably from the beginning been PvE-centric and get in a huff that the game isn't PvP enough. You knew that walking in. It was on a sign at the door. It was written on the invitation and repeated on the RSVP. PvP is a slice of the pie. It's not the entire pie. That is why "casuals" get pissy at competitive players. Because they are all showing up at the last minute, acting like they own the place, and can't be bothered with learning about what kind of game Destiny actually is.

Edited by HomeSliceArmy: 8/16/2014 12:05:42 AMI wouldn't say that casual (I speak for myself) gamers hate MLG, but instead just disagree with the viewpoints of the majority of the MLG community. Personally, with gaming as my top hobby, I don't consider myself MLG because of the community. It feels like the MLG players have a "HOLIER THAN THOU" attitude toward gaming. Just because I don't use gunnars, have a 300 dollar headset, or devote every waking second trying to get sponsored, I would be viewed as a minority in an MLG setting. I do agree that some people do have a bias toward MLG gamers, but as for being grouped as everyone hating MLG players, I think that is a little rash. And private matches can't spoil any fun I would have in Destiny, just like a Raid Matchmaking system wouldn't spoil any goals achieved by MLG players.

Edited by DEZARATH: 8/16/2014 12:12:04 AMI don't care what you do in a private match. I don't care about the crucible or the Iron banner. I would rather options than none. Whatever. It's the insurmountable wave of jerks who show up in the forums and lobbies making sure your competitive culture finds itself rated as a choice between them or a case of tape worms and gout that's the problem.
