I can't wait for Destiny's much-alluded to rich and detailed lore to come trickling out of player experiences, quests and
Grimoire (awesome name!) entries. If you're like me and the prospect having as immersive (if not more so) a universe, history,
bestiary and timeline as the likes of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings (also much-alluded to) excites you, then post your
thoughts here! To start with, here is a lore entry esque description of why humanity is in the place we find it in Destiny
(you don't have to read it if you don't want to):
The Traveler saw something in humanity that it believed could eventually benefit the whole Universe.
Here was a self aware species that, however flawed, was capable of greatness, and of being a friend to life, not it's enemy.
Of all the races it chose to bestow it's blessings upon, The Traveler chose Us. It came to our Solar System,
and with a stroke of pure Light, made all of it's planets bountiful, habitable paradises - with air that we could breathe, and water we could drink.
It did this for Us. So, enlightened by this Blessing, the human race set aside it's petty in-fighting, uniting to become
a single global - and now galactic - family. With our horizons, minds and potential broadened by the mysteriously benign Celestial Body,
what was once a relentless march to militarisation and resource-ravaging became a level-headed, environmentally conscious
technological revolution.
We developed sentient robots to help us, grand cities to house us and, unconstrained by a single planet, we thrived in the boundless
spaces given to us by our neighbouring plants. Wars for conquering borders were soon things of the past, and the void that was left
by such endless fearful conflicts from our past was gradually filled with a sense of fair sharing and an almost idealistic romanticism.
It began to show itself in our culture, beliefs, cities, and even in our weaponry. For hundreds of years, we advanced across the galaxy,
working as one cohesive whole under the almost maternal watch of The Traveler. Our weapons took on ever more of a ceremonial role -
becoming ornate, almost baroque works of Art. Slowly, but surely, we claimed the galaxy as our own. Academies of learning rose on Venus,
cities grew from thevery sands of Mars. It was truly a Golden Age.
