You're not wrong, some bits of gear found at the Speaker in the Alpha were seen to have stats.

Mainly boosting your Light. But I also believe I saw boosts in Intellect and Discipline stats.

What kinda of stats are those? I haven't heard of them before.

Strength as well, I forgot that.. Well, Strength decreases melee cooldown, Discipline decreases grenade cooldown (I believe), Intellect has something to do with your super, and Light increases your level.
