There should be a religion section.

Seriously 70% of the shit I see here is about relgion, Christian, Atheism, Islam, Judaism, etc. bungie might as we'll add in a religion topic, so we wouldn't have to deal with this bs. Who's with me.

  • The only religion you need is that of Vladimir Putin.

      • All of that stuff was isolated to #OffTopic. Until you started this topic. Not talking about #Religion begins at home.

        • I do not understand why it is so difficult to ignore threads that a person is not interested in.

          • We don't really need (and I certainly don't want) a separate section solely for religious discussion. What we need is people who don't fall for obvious bait. Frankly, I would be fine with banning religious discussion utterly and completely once again. If you want to discuss religion, there are quite a few forums where you can discuss precisely that. We rarely even actually discuss religion here. It's mostly people trolling, people pretending to be edgy, counter-trolling, and lolcows. If people stopped giving the trolls and wanna-be edgy people what they want, angry attention, then I suspect the religious and political threads would drop off significantly. That's nothing but a pipe-dream, as some people like being incensed and defensive and getting into stupid arguments over opinions. However, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I will still say that "if you don't like it ignore not" line again and again, because eventually I have to get through to some people. If those people then just stop participating in the pointless arguments, then at least those of us advocating the position at least made some minor impact.

            • It appears to me that the problem, in this case, is not the subject of such discussions but people making the discussion. Specifically their attitude. More separation will do little to alleviate that problem. Recon's solution of ignoring might help, but then we don't have to change anything to ignore what we don't wish to look at.

            • I believe that there is no need for a religion section on this site. This website is about Bungie and their games. There a plenty of other places to discuss religion, but I don't think this is one of them.

Here's something that is probably going to upset some folks and perhaps blow some mings. There is only 1 forum, and an infinite number of "sections". Just click on "All Topics" at the top of the screen and you will see "The Forum". Anything and everything else is simply filters based on tags. It's not a comfortable or intuitive concept, and people instinctively want to disagree with it, but the fact is there is no "offtopic" forum, there is no "destiny" forum, or any of the other subdivisions that members like to think exists. There are just #tags for categorizing posts. I've been a long advocate of adding the ability to the mute list to "ignore" #tags. That way, if someone properly tags their topic and it is a subject that another member doesn't care to see and has it in their mute list? They never see it. This site, this community are all one big stew pot. The fact that many (if not most) of the members choose to see it as separate forums, each with its own membership? That's their decision, but it is an illusion. We're all here on one big forum and topics (when properly tagged) should allow each of us to decide what we want to see and what we choose not to see.

              • I agree. Or they could start prohibiting religious topics. If there was a #Religion section, we would finally have something worse than #Density.

                • That's a very sound idea. Make a religion and politics forum, and make religion and politics a bannable topic in the flood. Everybody wins.

                  • Or they can just ban it again. I have not seen a compelling religion thread with discussion value beyond flamebait in a while. Politics are ok.

                  • It would perpetuate the problem, sadly. Recon is right. That's what tags are for. Like I said on a previous religion post, it wouldn't even be a problem if people could just accept that there are many valid ways of thinkingvand that their opinions aren't the be all end all.

                  • They should make a section called The Edge where all the edgy opinions can go -blam!- themselves.
