How can you not be cynical?
I don't understand how people on here can be as motivated and excited by Destiny when Bungie's last game (their "swan song" for the Halo series) was, by all accounts, no more than a disappointment to the franchise that put them on the map for console gamers.
I mean, we know extremely little about this game when it is only six months out. What we've seen so far doesn't necessarily indicate anything impressive. It bothers me that people aren't approaching this game with the same level of scrutiny they are other games. Sure, it's Bungie, which has an amazing track record, but some of the people who helped build that legacy aren't even working there anymore.
I just don't get the hype. The only time I was excited for a game as much as the people here was when Halo 3 was announced, and back then I was 11 and had only experienced a handful of games.

Cynical isn't a necessarily a bad emotion to feel, and you're right that a lot of people have blind faith in Destiny. With that said, if you truly read every article, listened to every podcast, broke down all of DeeJ's subtle and coy comments, I think you might get what some people are excited about. You'll always have fan boys -and you shouldn't blame those people for trusting a company that makes kick ass games- but I consider myself educated in game development, specifically Bungie and Destiny, and my concerns about this game have melted away entirely. I won't spend all night explaining the specifics, but I would encourage you to really look past these forums for Destiny info because there is some really great stuff out there. And let's be honest, with 600+ people working on a FPS for 4-5 years after 2 years of pre planning, it's bound to be a blast even if it isn't game changer.
