Your Story's Plot Details in Respect to Confirmed Details or Gameplay Features in Destiny

My story is closely related to confirmed information in Destiny.

My story is hardly related to confirmed information in Destiny.

I am curious to see how many of the Black Garden's fan fiction authors have written their stories based on the confirmed plot or gameplay details Bungie has released thus far. Regardless of your vote, specify how your story's details have or have not been influenced by Destiny's confirmed details.

  • My "Dream for Me" short story was inspired entirely by the reveal of the Exo's origins. I'm writing a follow up based on the same idea. So I suppose all my recent Destiny work has been directly tied to confirmed details. I find that if I speculate too much it stops feeling like I'm writing about Destiny.

    • With The Longest Stride, I felt as though I was writing a survival story based around what facts and rumors I heard about Destiny. The more I wrote though, the less and less I felt like was capturing that element of Destiny that made me fall in love with it in the first place. But with this new series Fluke, I'm designing it around the kind of things I want to do (like to do/ wish to do/ plan to do) with my friends. The more I think about this funny activities, the more I feel as though there already confirmed to be true. But my imagination is guild, and it's gotten me to create some pretty awesome ideas. To answer the question; I keep up with the confirmations and rumors, but I make some of my own.

      • I have enjoyed using as much confirmed information as possible, yet I have embellished many of my own interpretations of the confirmed info.

Well i would join you but after my experience with the Writers Corner i rather let my story's be seen by everyone. Nothing against you or them but it was not the right fit for me. As Many know i have been writing story's for a bit. Best one i wrote so far was The Man who sang to the Stars (Halo before we knew Destiny existed.) I have found new ways to innovate and write story's i think my current one The Last Paladin Reflects what a new person to all of this would experience. This is perhaps my greatest story yet but i have wheels turning in wheels for follow up stories and even a prequel. I try to expand horizons and let the story tell itself. I might use weapons or armor, yet each thing in destiny has a story. From the weapons to the person wielding them. If told properly this expands the context and gives a reader the ability to tell his or her own story's. Grammar has been my biggest drawback and at times my greatest hinderance as a writer. I would like the reader to feel less like a spectator and identify with the characters. So the story lets them experience the same joy sadness and love the characters do and brings heart to the story as you journey with them.

          • Funnily enough most of what I've written that contradicts confirmed details came before I was aware of those details. Vex as robots, Exo as cyborgs, Awoken (lack of backstory), and then there's the entire portion of my story that occurs in the past seemingly without the Traveler's presence. But beyond those I've tried to keep things consistent with what's been released.

            • Most of the information, maybe 80%, is mostly confirmed information. The other 20% is speculation or something I thought just sounded interesting from another writing project I was tinkering with.
