Okay, let's get something cleared up.

Let me begin by saying I'm in no way am I trying to disparage Batman as a character. Both he and Superman are my favourite superheros equally in different ways. Now that that's out of the way, let me begin. This thread has inspirations from Gojira/Kal/Roach's thread, but I'm here to address the issue more directly to the fans. As you all know, a new Superman/Batman movie is being developed. As exciting as this is, it doesn't look to be heading the right way shall we say. The announcement was kickstarted by this quote : "I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you." Now for those that don't know, this is a direct quotation from the graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns, where Batman very loosely defeats Superman and utters that sentence to him. It's pretty obvious that Snyder is going to take some inspirations from the comic book. So why is this is a bad thing you ask? Well, for one it's the ultimate Holy Grail for all Bat tards to refer to in their attempts to repudiate or degrade Superman as a character. I understand it's early days, but this is not a good sign. If Snyder/Goyer does go for the "BTAMN IS TEH WINRAR, SOOPRMAN IS TEH SUKKER" approach, then they will be more concerned with catering to the masses, instead of actually respecting the source material. So finally, the point of this thread was to highlight the fact that in canon, Batman has very rarely defeated Superman. In actuality, it's Superman who has kicked Batman's ass multiple times. So, if this movie does take the Frank Miller approach, I want you to remember they're taking one big shit on the canonical source material, and be prepared for the Bat tards. Be prepared. TL;DR: If the new Batman/Superman movie has Batman kicking Superman's ass, then the movie is one big catering to the masses, instead of respecting the source material.

  • I'm not sure why he used the quote, but he did say that batman couldn't beat superman, so we know batman isn't going to kick superman's ass

  • I agree with you but some can question your logic as fanboyism. Why? Your name is Superman.. Everywhere I see you post that is related to a superhero topic, you talk about Superman... If anything, my #1 concern is that Justin Beiber might be casted as Robin. I know it's just a rumor but..it's a scary ass rumor

    • Do you understand why the masses want Batman to beat Superman? Because unlike Superman, Batman is actually an interesting character.

          • Their battle should end in a stalemate like Iron Man vs. Thor and Thor vs. Hulk from the Avengers. But they should only get in a physical fight like once...the rumored title "Batman vs. Superman" implies they're gonna fight for most of the movie.

            • I agree with you OP. We just had 3 Batman movies, I want a couple good Superman ones, dammit. Though, I have a feeling that that is exactly what the second movie will be, or at least for the most of it. Batman is going to pretty much be this untouchable antihero character for the whole movie, then Superman finally overcomes him and they become friends. If that happens it's totally going to suck. I'm sure everyone else on the planet would love that idea though.

            •
Batman beats Superman

-blam!-ING FANBOYS RUINED MUH SUPERMAN SEQUEL

Superman beats Batman

10/10 OUR LORD SNYDER DOES IT AGAIN
They can do whatever the Hell they want in regards to one beating the other and it will be perfectly fine in "respecting the source material."
instead of actually respecting the source material.
Source material is TDKR, to respect it would be to have Batman beat down Superman.
I want you to remember they're taking one big shit on the canonical source material
The established canon is that Batman has a room full of all different types of kryptonite and contingency plans for every Leaguer. So no, they're not, since canonically it's anyone's game depending on a variety of factors. I think Superfans are up in arms not just because they know Batman at some point in this upcoming movie is going to hand Superman his ass on a plate, but because they deep down know that he should. Especially in this universe they've created. The reason BatGod exists in the comics contending with superpowered foes on a level no street-level detective should is because he's the representative of human ingenuity, intelligence, courage, and determination in comics. Humans got to the top of the food chain over animals that weigh 800lbs and have six inch claws for the same reason, they even the playing field by using inventiveness to vercome their handicaps. And Superfans deep down must understand why it is that the symbol for humanity's struggle and realization of self has to defeat the superior foe, which is why they're recognizing it as an inevitability and lashing against it in the next movie. And not only should it happen, but it makes sense to in the Man of Steel universe more than anywhere else. Superman is powered at a more down to Earth level, he's not super-intelligent as far as we've seen, he's young and inexperienced since Man of Steel is the first time he's ever been in a conflict. Meanwhile it's been said this Batman is older and fully experienced in his career. It's the perfect logical set-up for him to come out on top and would make more sense and be more cinematically sound. Because the bottom line is that watching the superior force crush the underdog just isn't dramatic or exciting, it's just boring. Watching the underdog take down someone they have no business being able to deal with is where interesting dynamics, creativity, and investment come into play.

                • If Snyder wants to respect the source material (in this instance TDKR), then by definition, Batman has to batter Clark. ITT: Butthurt Superman fans.

Superman can beat Batman all he likes, but if he loses he should be held to a higher standard as he is friggin' Superman. Also, isn't it superhero 101 to never let one superhero defeat another?
