Why an alliance of aliens?

Not asking why it's again another of alliance of aliens we're fighting. I'm more-so wondering why they /are/ seemingly in an alliance. For all I know humanity could have terrible luck, and these guys all came along at once. The Cabal and the Fallen I could see teaming up. But the Vex and Space Zombies don't seem to match up too well. I mean we know what they are to an extent, and it's why they kind of all seem painted in different lights to me. The space zombies /could/ be deployed by the Cabal or Fallen, but that still leaves the Vex in a pretty mysterious light. What do you guys think about this?

    • i wonder if maybe the different races will have factions within themselves, much like the 5 speculated human factions. my guess is that not every single being in the universe will be hell bent on our destruction. maybe we will pick up missions from some cabal separatist or something. and the fact that the fallen are referred to as space pirates brings a sense of chaos to them. how unified could they be?

    • Because even though they have interstellar travel and crazy tech, they're still scared of that small blue planet with the hairless apes running around.

      • Like most others I agree that it's more of an "enemy of my enemy" thing, but I do hope we see some fighting between the alien factions as well from time to time

      • I personally don't think they are going to be allied at all. They haven't claimed that, yet. Other than a picture of both Fallen and Cabal together, there are no other hinted alliances, and that doesn't necessarily mean anything for the game itself. If I had a guess, I think you are going to encounter different races in different places rather than jumbled up groups.

      • Maybe humans are complete a-holes in the future of the galaxy so the Vex invented time travel to go and kill the humans? This time travel could be how all the species ended up at the same time and place. Just a guess.

      • I would imagine then any species traveling large interstellar distances from where they originated would seek out other like minded alien intelligence for allies to aid them in their cause.

      • Who knows? Maybe in this open world, we will find them fighting each other already. That concept art with them together doesn't necessarily mean they are allies. It just means an artist drew them all in the same picture.

      • OK guys i think that the reason the aliens want to kill us off is because once the Americans take over the Earth then there will be no stop to the spread of Diabetes and AIDS throughout the universe.

I feel like the actions of the Traveler sent shockwaves throughout the galaxy. I think the other races were surprised by the Traveler's moves, saving the human race the way it did. My prediction is one of two possibilities: The other races are enraged by the Traveler's actions, and are trying to wipe out the Human race as a sort of punishment or vengeance. Or, the races know that the Traveler left something extremely valuable behind, and are making a mad dash toward the last human civilization in an attempt to claim it first. Or perhaps it's a combination of the two. EDIT: I definitely agree that this "alliance" of sorts is simply "The enemy of my enemy is my friend," and not a full-blown covenant (pun intended).

      • Didn't feel like they were allied to me. Just because you have multiple enemies doesn't mean they are working together to kill you. They have a common goal as far as I know: killing us, but I don't see them being allies as of know.

        • Because after Bungie made a Covenant of aliens they just said wtf and did it again. This by the way is totally 100% accurate and that is all the thought they needed to put into the enemys

        • I would imagine it simply boils down to the Enemy of my enemy is my friend. Once humans are extinct I could see it being a free-for-all brawl between them.

        • Alright, after reading the other posts in the thread, here's my off-the-cuff speculative theory: The aliens aren't truly "allied" in the sense of any formal, broad alliance. They simply happen to have a common goal: the Traveler. Why? Because whatever "knocked us down," and it is not these particular aliens that did it, is also in the process of knocking their own societies down in the same way. They want to gain either the Traveler, or gain some power from it, because they know that it saved us and want to be saved themselves.

          • I think ist has something to do with the Traveler. The different races were all betrayed or attacked by the Traveller or maybe they are just jealous that the Traveller chose the humans as the ones who got "blessed" with his powers (the enemy of my enemy is my friend).

            • Who said the aliens are allies ? The fall of man probably prompted the alien factions to claim (maybe even reclaim ?) humanity's territories.

I don't think they're Allied. Above is the only picture we have of mixed enemy factions working together. See how all those guys are glowing? It seems like they are either mind controlled, or perhaps they're Zombies?

                  • Don't know if they're allied. My guess is that it's more of a case of they're all here, they want the Traveler's ship, and each faction is fighting us over it while still trying to get it for themselves. Like in Regicide. But, how do we know their names? I'd like a link so I can know, too. :P

                    • I agree about the Cabal and the Fallen, and that one concept art would suggest this. It seems like the Fallen would provide the Cabal with valuable resources in exchange for their large physical traits. I see the Vex as having their own agenda and isolating themselves, they are robots. Not necessarily an enemy but an unlikely ally. Space Zombies don't seem sentient to me, perhaps it's similar to the flood. I wonder if the Space Zombies could be a remnant bio-weapon or side-effect that ties in with whatever "knocked us down" in the past.
