As part of our continuing mission to bombard the Bungie.next Beta with your better salvos of feedback, we’ve deployed another update. If you take a deep inhale, you can smell the fresh code. It smells like… victory. In keeping with our pledge to keep you slightly briefed on our grand conspiracy to reinvent your home in our domain, a list of the more apparent changes are found below.
First, some highlights for this new version. Here are the fixes we think you’ll be most excited about…
Throw your voice into a specific Forum Category. We’ve added some structure to the party, thus preserving the unique discussion parlors that you’ve come to know and love. Forum Categories are exclusive buckets of conversation – so you’ll only be able to pick one. They can be selected from a dropdown menu as you draft a Topic. Yes, there’s a reservoir for The Flood. You still have the ability to apply tags to each post, but you won’t be able to use the official tags that drive the Categories.
Please Note: Older topics will still straddle multiple categories. New ones won't.
We’re dark (again) bro. One or two of you may have mentioned that they missed the smoky aesthetic of the old and busted Bungie.net. We can’t imagine why, but we love you way too much to let such polite feedback float away on the breeze. To turn out your respective lights, visit the Display options on the Settings page under your profile. That should hold you over until the end of the beta.
Please Note: You may find holes in the new dark theme. Keep Calm and Report to #Feedback.
If you crave every last detail, here’s the rest of the changes (some large, some small):
-you can now filter the Activity feed by the people you’re following
-the Social feed on the front page displays the entire entry
-the autocomplete no longer returns duplicate users
-email addresses are now a hidden value on your profile page
-when you sign out of your account on the profile page, it goes away
-links on the careers page have been fixed
-fixed the display for all time latest topics
-the navigation bar for the mobile view scrolls when zoomed in
-Ninjas can edit replies to official posts
-a new menu for Display Options is available in Settings
-the reply button now appears when you access a forum reply via permalink
-issues with capitalized file extensions for embedded have been fixed
-the FORUMS link at the top of the display leads to the Categories menu
-forum titles are now active links that refresh the Topic index
That’s all for now, and that’s enough. This was not the first to update to Bungie.next. It won’t be the last. We’re still tinkering with the controls on the bridge, and there are still items on your wish list that are being made real. Some fixes just take longer than others.
Keep the chatter coming. Let us know how the new changes impact your experience.

Thank you for listening.

Digging the dark, love the new layout and new social feed. Keep up the brilliant stuff guys. Just need forum titles now.... >_>
-
Damn, you guys actually listen to feedback (at least rational feedback). Any reason why offtopic can't be renamed The Flood? Will you get sued by MS if you do?
-
Could just be my browser, but the text color doesn't update with the dark scheme. The majority of the text becomes unreadable unless highlighted. Anyone else having an issue?
-
Glad to see updates being made!
-
Great update guys! Loving the changes.
-
Big Black Bear approves.... This is how things should have looked / worked when bnext (has anyone been saying this?) first launched. It's a much more familiar format that should allow the community to digest all the new features more easily.

Dark theme fantastic, easy on the eyes. The forums of old make a welcome return. My only complaints are that hashtags seem a bit messy (why not keywords?), and I really dislike the font.

Edited by Decimator Omega: 1/25/2013 4:50:00 AMOh good. Maybe now I can turn my script off and enjoy the site in it's darkness form. Hopefully it's dark everywhere too. *turns off script* *goes to private groups* *sees that it's bright as day* OH GOD MY EYES!!! I think I'll leave the script turned on until this beta is over. Actual Feedback: The preview button is needed. Also what about the option to have to switch the posts from ascending to descending? I miss reading these forums from top to bottom. Lastly, the polls.

Edited by Mango Fett: 1/25/2013 12:50:44 PMDark theme bug For whatever reason the dark theme doesn't work whenever I visit #feedback or the threads inside it. It works fine for all my other tags however. EDIT: After investigating further only the the #feedback thread listing and this specific thread are breaking the dark theme (It just looks like the old white theme when I visit those pages) . EDIT2: And now for whatever reason the dark theme is working fine for me everywhere. I have no idea what changed (same browsing session and everything) but at least it works.

awsum sauce, keep up the good work!
-
Now all you need to do is return the chronological posting format, pages and all, and then restore private group functions to their former glory. Accomplish these two feats and I'll start liking this place again.
-
Only thing I don't understand are the official hashtags on the side same as the ones on the top drop menu? and...you should remove the none option cuz the none option makes hash tags be used more. Liek if it's none it should be off topic that is what i'm saying. and...great work Bungie. This is a huge improvement!
-
Fantastic. I'll go check out the dark theme (while I love the new white one, I need to compare).
-
Dark theme is awesome - better, dare I say it, than Bungie.last
-
I like the dark sooo much better, thanks.
-
Hallelujah. ^^My response to seeing forums are back. I can't imagine how wonderful Bungie.next will look after this beta is over.
-
Thank you so much for the Display Options and Categories. Those were some much-needed improvements.
-
This is already a million times better. Now just give us the option to set default thread sorting options and chronological post ordering and I'll be a very happy camper.
-
You deserve a heart. <3
-
Awesome. I would love to see chronological ordering back - i.e. earliest to latest. Easier to follow the thread and its meanderings.
-
I'm really liking the "Darkness" a lot. Much easier on the eyes.
-
I still don't think it's dark enough. The rest though, nice work team. You're really listening to the community, i like that.
-
Well this is much better.
-
Thanks for letting us go dark. Much easier on the eyes.

Spiffy!
