NINJA EDIT - READ THIS FIRST
From now on, people who post spam, advertising and Halo crap in this thread are going to get maximum length bans. I don't care how clever or witty you think you are, or how urgent your question about the latest Reach update is. Don't post that S'pht here. The other ninja may have let it slide, but I won't.
This guide works for Windows, OS X, and Linux.
With the release of Aleph One 1.0 on December 1st, 2011, the hitherto-confusing installation process has been streamlined dramatically. Curated community plugins have been bundled with the game files into a single download for each game. Get your Marathon here!
If you wish to find alternatives or additions to the bundled plugins, check out Simplici7y. The site is active, with new content submitted regularly.
It should also be noted that Marathon 2: Durandal is available for purchase from the Xbox Live Arcade.

It's so nice to have a collection of all this Marathon stuff in one spot. There was this incredible HUD mod I found someplace, had these cool weapon switch animations and the HUD was like a cracked screen. Does anybody have a link to it? [Edited on 09.02.2011 8:02 PM PDT]
Posted by: Infini7yx SWE
Posted by: Sir MacHinery i haven't played marathon yet
Give it a try! Don't let the aged graphics and controls prevent you from playing it. There are graphic enhancement mods (textures, weapons, HUD etc.) and you can also customize the controls to your liking. What makes the Marathon trilogy so great is its deep and engaging story line. Even to this date there are very few titles that are on par with the Marathon universe, which is in my opinion really impressive since the story is told through text. Aside from the trilogy itself, there are also a handful of fan made high quality single player scenarios.
The reason it's so deep is that it's told through text.
Posted by: MicahA239 So would you have a Marathon guide for Xbox live or is there even a difference at all between the two versions.
There's an xbox guide on IGN, and I think there are minor differences between the two with some maps, not just the graphics.

Where do you put the plugins for marathon for them to work?

I'm having the same problem with M1A1 some other people were having but I can't solve it. I get this error: fatal alert (ID=-1): Please be sure the files 'Map', 'Shapes', 'Images' and 'Sounds' are correctly installed and try again. I unzipped both M1A1 and AlephOne in their own directories and then copied over the AlephOne.exe, Tracks, Fonts, and Themes directories to the top level M1A1 directory. Also in the top level directory I have the Images, Map, Shapes, and Sounds files that it is asking for. Should these files be somewhere else in the directory? I also made sure to get SDL_net.dll and SDL_image.dll because for some reason they were not included. edit: I tried setting the env variable ALEPHONE_DATA to a Data directory with the files inside but it didn't work. You can just assign the keys to whatever is most comfortable for you.

Thanks, I got it and it's awesomeee

I tried downloading this, and I don't know if I'm doing this right, but it keeps saying I didn't install the textures, images, sounds, music, shapes when I tried to run it. What I did: Downloaded Aleph One to My Documents, and went to 'extract all' into a folder as the executable. Downloaded each game into a folder, and then extract all to another folder, and copy and pasted the aleph one exe to each game folder, and I went into the folder and clicked on Aleph One, and clicked 'Run'. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks. Nvm, I figured it out. Thanks, this is amazing. [Edited on 08.09.2011 5:45 PM PDT]
Posted by: stripedks how do u even get the Marathon triolgy!
Read the OP. It will tell you exactly how to get it. EDIT: As a side note, is there a specific way to get the other scenarios (Such as Eternal)? Or is the same way as the original trilogy? Just asking before I tried. [Edited on 08.06.2011 3:40 PM PDT]
Posted by: nitwitcoffee10 I found a secret Save terminal on Pfhoraphobia that wasn't in the MSG. At the start, turn around and start poking around at the wall, and it should bring up the save prompt.
That terminal was never in the original game. It was added later for M1A1 because there were no saves on that level. I suppose people thought it was too hard without a save, but if you want to be a true vidboi, I wouldn't be using that one. ;)
