Short-Term Suggestions to Soothe the PvE Playerbase

First of all, let me state that I'm a PvP-only player - I'd become one. I’d always been entering the Crucible, but I also enjoyed completing the challenges that the PvE provided. While the recent weekly update was great for me, I feel that especially our PvE playerbase is currently neglected and in dire need for a straw to hold on to. I consider the weekly update very transparent and I look forward to the changes it will bring to the Crucible, especially with the special ammo limitation at the start of a match and the way they are intending to tack latency even more. However, even I think that there is a real draught concerning PvE activities, content, releases whatsoever. The fixes to teleporting Ogres and the runner will sure make the KF raid more enjoyable - I remember glitchy Atheon/Crota and that sure was no fun at all. In general, I think that once you've accomplished a challenge in the PvE it becomes so much easier the next time. Therefore, the "fun falloff" is extremely steep after completing a raid multiple times. I’d like to make some short-term suggestions to soothe our PvE Playerbase, which – in my opinion – do not require much resources on Bungie’s side. In essence, win-win-solutions that provides our minions of darkness slayers something to hold on to with minimum effort and buys Bungie some time to develop mid- to long-term content such as weekly/monthly PvE events and completely new content. Anyways, here are a few suggestions that I believe the PvE players would greatly acknowledge: 1. Increase the light level/Implement all Year One strikes into the Vanguard Playlist (maybe even to Weekly Heroic/Nightfall) This would add a lot of diversity to the strike rotation. I don’t think the Taken would have to be implemented – solely the currently present minions of darkness should have their level increased. Even though the story is clearly about the Taken being on every planet, I don’t think they’d have to be in those Year One strikes. If the argument is that the strikes should be in line with the story, then why would it even be possible to send a strike boss to oblivion/to kill it multiple times? That does not make sense either. This suggestion could even apply to the weekly heroic strikes and the Nightfall. 2. Make Nightfall relevant again I remember the times when everyone was doing the Nightfall three times right after the weekly reset in order to get XP bonus and rewards. Neither is given so there’s hardly any incentive to even complete Nightfall anymore. Personally, I can’t remember when I last did one. With the vast array of possible buffs (solar damage increase, grounded, etc. etc.) this activity used to be both challenging and rewarding. Even if the rewards remained as they are, an XP bonus should be granted again – this increases reputation gains, which in turn results in more rank packages and rewards. Faction rewards such as shaders and ships, but also useful weapons with great perks can be really hard to obtain. Slightly increased faction reputation due to a completed Nightfall would definitely make this pay off! 3. Increase the light level of Vault of Glass and Crota’s End This is similar to the first point with making Year One strikes relevant again. So much content, so many hours of developing and designing two raids – which are pretty useless/burned out and most-probably hardly played at all anymore (I haven’t got any numbers, so I’m simply assuming). However, this might be slightly more tricky as players who do not own all DLCs must still be able to enter the respective raids at their level cap. The same applies for rewards: Imagine we could get VoG gear and still be 300+ light and great stats (Intellect/Discipline/Strength). This might require some fine-tuning concerning gear upgrade/infusion. It would also add a lot of diversity to people’s look, which I find great. Overall, a lot of incentives to go into those raids again and have a lot of fun while being usefully rewarded. 4. Increase the light level of the Prison of Elders Exactly in line with the Year One raids: Level cap should be increased accordingly and the rewards should be made relevant again, too. People might go for those (Y2!) exotic bounties or the chest loot, face Skolas at an increased and therefore challenging light level. As I mentioned earlier: I don’t expect these changes to bind too many resources, but it would definitely make the PvE playerbase happy and more active for one to two months – quite some time to come up with a weekly/monthly PvE event that is going to be completely new to everyone. Moreover, as much content as possible - for which everyone paid for - should still be relevant to a certain extent. I’d love to hear your opinions on these suggestions and what other “easy to implement” options you can think of while we are waiting for something new – perhaps something big! All the best to you, guardians Roman (RGaming) EDIT: This Week At Bungie brought a glimpse on Bungie's roadmap - and is in line with this thread! I quote:
That content release will feature a significant Light increase, a bunch of new gear to earn and equip, and new challenges for PvE players seeking some more fun experiences and replayability.
"More fun experiences" should equal new content, whereas replayability must refer either old raids or the Prison of Elders (or both)! Light increase could mean that 320 is not going to stay the maximum, or that simply old challenges are made relevant again by elevating their respective light level. We will see, but I'm definitely excited. The release date is not published yet, but it's supposed to be spring this year.
