What the Division is like (Coming from an Alpha player)

The Division is like the beautiful love child of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and Warframe. If you stayed past that sentence I hope it means you're interested. Section 1: The Gun Play
Over all it felt like your standard cover based third person shooter, they could certainly improve some areas, and at times it felt a little clunky. You can climb about 90% of the things you can use to take over. And you can vault over most ledges, if the drop will give you fall damage it lets you know with an indicator. The apparent lack of the ability to Prone was certainly disheartening but I can live with out it as the multitude of skills, talents and perks makes up for it. Speaking of which
Section 2: Abilities
Abilities come in 3 different categories which are Medical, Tech, and Security. Alternatively they can be called what they actually are Healer, DPS, and Tank. Skills are bound to the Left and Right shoulder button Talents are basically super moves and are activated by pressing both shoulder buttons at the same time. Perks are completely passive for the most part. The Medical Tree gives you the ability to apply various group Buffs and preform area of effect Healing actions. The most powerful Talent by far is the one that allows you to heal your entire group, revive any downed members of your party to mostly full health. And if you already are at full health you get an "Over Shield" that stays with you until it's fully depleted. Yes this is incredibly powerful almost over powered, but it has a limited range, at the highest I think it was 5 meters. The Tech Tree is a bit of a mix between buffing and DPS, from what I remember one of the skills was a sticky bomb that you can launch at most surfaces and detonate remotely, and a seeker mine that you place on the ground and it then rolls towards the designated enemy and blows up. The Security Tree had a couple of Ballistic shields, one that you can use as you move around and it enabled you to use your pistol at the same time. Another you place on the ground and it buffs your damage allowing you to draw in more agro. I also remember there being a place able turret but I really can't remember what tree it was on.
Section 3: Crafting
This is the part that most reminded me of Warframe You can find blue prints through out the game world of differing rarities. The gather the materials nesscary to craft the item in the blue print, where it differs from Warframe is that there were only 5 different types of crafting items (Fabric, Weapon Parts, Tools, Electronics, and Division Tech). And these them selves can have different rarities, for example you can find fabric that's a Blue level rarity and use it to craft blue level items. Marcostyles does a better job of explaining so I'll link him down below.
link Edit: My initial post seems to not have included the rest of section 2 and all of section three... Edit2: Weapon and Gear mods
Weapon and Gear mods are so -blam!-ing important! They can out right make your level 4 character do enough damage and have enough health to take on level 10 AI with ease! Let me explain. There are three over arching stats in the game, they aren't the only stats but they are by far the most important. They are Firearms, Stamina, and Electronics Every point in Firearms causes your weapons to do 1% more damage. Every point in stamina gives your character 30 more HP Every point in Electronics gives your character 10 more skill power(effectiveness of your skill) At level 4 with nothing equipped on your character at all you have 28 points in each stat I honestly have no idea how much you gain in each catagory as you level up. Further more weapons and gear can have Talents that require you have a certain amount of points in one or more of these stats. For example on a purple level rarity weapon it had two talents Adept: Using a Skill increases your critical hit chance by 3% for five seconds. Requires 406 in Firearms and 406 in Electronics Deadly: Critical Hit damage increased by 11%. Requires 406 in Firearms. On top of all this there are a whole bunch of smaller stats to consider in modding and weapon talents as well Critical Hit Chance Critical Hit Damage Head Shot Damage The various types of damage effects Accuracy Stability Assault Rifle Damage Bonus Grenade Launcher Damage Bonus Marksman Rifle Damage bonus LMG Damage Bonus Pistol Damage Bonus Shot Gun Damage Bonus Damage To Elites Health on Kill Enemy armor damage The amount of Threat/Agro you produce Your Armor Effectiveness Health Regen Protection From Elites Physical damage resistance Bleed Damage resistance Stun damage resistance Burn damage resistance The list goes on and on and on after that.
Edit 3: The Dark Zone
I went into the Dark Zone a grand total of one time I left with amazing loot yes, but frankly I wasn't high enough level to comfortably survive against the AI. So I decided to build my character up to fight more easily take down these level 25 thugs. By the time I was ready I didn't feel the need to go charging in to the Dark Zone. Yes some of the best gear in the game is in there but I was able to build a character that did decently out side of the Dark Zone.
Mind you I'm a solo player. Edit 4: The Beta
I will be Live Streaming the Beta from my PS4 starting on the 29th You may wonder "if he's on ps4 how's he play the Alpha?" Simply put my friend's Xbone, he let me borrow it. If you want to join me in the beta feel free to send me a friend request. It may help if you have a veteran on your side
Edit 5: This is my first post to ever reach 100 replies!! Wooo Edit 6: Alpha Control Scheme on Xbone
Left Analog Stick Move character (click to sprint) Right Analog Stick Rotate camera (click to zoom when aiming) Left Trigger Aim Right Trigger Fire Left Bumper Skill 1 Right Bumper Skill 2 D-Pad Up Inspect Loot (hold to mark targets) D-Pad Left hold to bring up Grenade radial menu D-Pad Down hold to bring up emote radial menu D-Pad Right Use medkit A Enter / Exit cover (hold to change cover, double-tap to roll) B Vault / Climb X Reload (hold to interact via prompt icon) Y Swap between primary / secondary weapons (hold to select handgun) Back / View Map Start / Menu Menu (hold for inventory)
Edit 6: Grenades, Consumables, and Buffs
Section 1 grenades: Emp Grenades: Destroys any Placeable skills in the area of effect, and prevents any enemies from using skills for a brief time (yes it works on enemy players) Flash Bang Grenade: Deals a Blind-Deaf effect to any enemy forces in the AOE. Vision is impaired for a short time and all they can hear us a violent ringing during that time.(yes it works on players) Frag Grenade: Deals High Damage and has a chance to cause Bleeding (In this game Bleeding prevents players from regenerating health) Incendiary Grenade: coats an area in flames upon detonation, chance cause enemies to burn. Drains enemy health over time.(good area denial) Shock Grenade: Temporarily Paralyze enemies caught in the blast and deals damage.(players get stun locked) Tear Gas Grenades: Disorients enemies and lowers their accuracy stat (pretty shitty against players). At first you can only carry one of each type of grenade. That can be upgraded by finding new bags. Section 2 Consumables and buffs Canned Food: increases healing effects on player by 40% effect lasts 30 seconds. Energy Bar: when consumed all negative status effects are removed (that includes burning and bleeding) and protects player from negative status effects for 5 seconds. Bottled water: increases damage against elites by 20% for 30 seconds (no bonuses against players) Soda: Reduces all Skill Cool-downs by 30% lasts 30 seconds. Incendiary Rounds: all bullets now have a chance to light enemies on fire, effect lasts 30 seconds. Explosive Rounds: All bullets now have a chance to deal AOE damage. Medkits: Heals damage over time when consumed. All consumables have a cool down period of around 15-40 seconds. Until that cool down is over you can't use another one. At first you can only carry three of each consumables but that can be upgraded by finding new back packs.
