Imagine an event so broad, and so rewarding; imagine a PvE and PvP event combined. Enter the "Heart of Light" (HoL), a monthly quest line which challenges the entire spectrum of Destiny players. The event would consist of a 3 part quest line, which ends inside the Traveler's core, rewarding the player with the ability to fuse 2 exotics armor pieces of similar type, i.e. Ruin Wings (exotic gauntlets) + Immolation Fists (exotic gauntlets) = Immolation Wings ([b]Light Forged Gauntlets[/b]). Does it sound interesting yet? Let's make use of that old content now... [b]Dark Incarnate[/b]: The first (PvE) part of the monthly event. It requires players to defeat all of the raid bosses, i.e. Atheon (Time Stained Heart), Crota (Heart of Malice), Skolas (Heart of Scorn) , and Oryx (Heart of Vengeance), in order to collect their respective quest items. The raids would be done on hard mode, with the older content being boosted in difficulty. I forgot to mention, these would drop old raid gear at year 2 (or 3) light values, but would only drop loot once per event. [b]Trials of Light[/b]: The second (PvP) part of the monthly event. This section requires players to forge a "key of light", from the essence of fellow guardians. It should be short and sweet, as most players are not crucible oriented, so it would be bare bones. Trial 1: Complete a Trials of Osiris ticket with at least 5 wins. Trial 2: Generate 30 motes of light, and score 50 assists. Trial 3: Win 3 matches of clash, rumble (top 3), control, and rift. Last but not least, Trial 4: Win 3 matches (of any game type) in a row. I know this seems grueling, but the rewards are just. [b]Forge of Light[/b]: The third (PvE) part of the monthly event. Trans-mat inside the Traveler itself and find the darkness plaguing it's heart. A leisurely walk through the Traveler's interior, with a few secrets and lore related objects along the way, leads to the core. Once arriving at the Traveler's core, the fire team (of 8) would face the darkness inside, and fight echos of each raid boss. The sequence would go: Atheon, Crota, Skolas, and then Oryx, with a gap in between each fight. Players would place each heart into a given node, activating the fight and transporting players into the "shadow world". For added difficulty, the 'enrage' period of each boss is replaced with an instant reset, wiping the fire team. Upon cleansing each node, a door opens, leading to the Traveler's heart. Inside the heart, players have the ability to fuse 2 exotic armor pieces of similar type, which have both respective exotic perks, and a [b]light forged[/b] perk. The light forged perk would be a unique blend of the exotic perks, allowing a more personalized game to form. Here are some "Light Forged" pieces I've come up with, but please feel free to correct them (and add your own). [u]Immolation Wings[/u] Exotic perks from both "Ruin Wings" and the "Immolation Fists". "Seeds of Fire" (light forged): Enemies who drop heavy ammo explode upon death, chaining fire between nearby enemies. Heavy ammo drops more consistently. [u]Symbiotic Gaze[/u] Exotic perks from both the "Achlyophage Symbiote" and the "Celestial Nighthawk". "Celestial Wrath" (light forged): Enemies who are not killed by the golden gun are marked for death. Marked enemies have reduced armor for a short time. Please feel free to comment and give input!     • This should be the last mission, it should start with you getting a distress call from the tower, you don't know what's going on when you show up all the head guardians are "zombyfied" there is a massive attack from all the enemies, the stranger shows up just as your dieing, you got is malfunctioning. She reveals she's from the future and that this happened before. They use vex technology like a hub to travel through time and collect fragments of the travelers knowledge to repair your ghost and fight the darkness at the travelers heart. Once you collect the last shard you can choose to save the traveler and postpone your destruction making enemies with the stranger or destroy your ghost and the traveler and kill the darkness with it. Either way leads to you discovering that you need a heart of darkness from the raids bosses in order to enter the traveler. You do the raids as you proposed but you have to fight through the city and into the traveler to destroy it or save it. After that the monthly mission opens up and you can do it again with a fire team of 8 and get rewards

      • So I really like your idea. But I have a few hang ups. 1)I'm not saying it, but someones gonna call it op for some reason (happens with everyone single one of my gear ideas) 2)youve probably already heard people don't like having pvp quests in pve and vice versa. So, I'm gonna try to build off your idea with the same premise but different variation. What if getting the 4 nodes gave incremental rewards instead of one big one? Your questline would remain the same but players would have to do the grind parts of the quest, then kill the raid boss. So for example you kill x vex majors to get y time related item, then kill atheon to get the time heart (or whatever your idea was) -getting 1 node would allow you to turn 1 rare piece of gear into a legendary. So it would be like the gunsmith where it gives you three choices of the legendary version with decent perks. -getting 2 nodes let's you add or change an element on a weapon -Getting 3 nodes let's you ascend 1 piece of gear to 320 -getting 4 let's you do as you plan and fuse 2 similar exotics That way you can go on and decide to do a part of it and still get rewarded. Instead of having to allot a large amount of time to grind out all long quest. But that's just my suggestion. I still think your original idea is really rad

              • This is a sweet idea. If only Bungie would notice things like this and actually do it. Instead.. if they did see this they would "let the devs know about this idea and add it to the community wish list" resulting in a weekly update to inform us one of our ideas actually got heard and we would be given more info in a future update. That future update would be hyped up for a month and we would finally be informed that they butchered your idea and we would end up with a 1v1 pvp event with time gated bounties and take a month to complete.

                  • Holy shit. Bro apply to work at bungie this shit is amazing. Maybe not include gear drops in the raids (or something like 1 drop per event) just because it may be too easy to max of off this single event. This is a SPECTACULAR idea though. I would love to see this in destiny.

                    • I think its a good idea but I was turned away the moment you placed a minimum win requirement on the Trials of Osiris. With that I would never be able to do this because every time I try that be it with a group of friends or randoms I lose and get pissed off because I typically lose for BS reasons. I never had a trials run with more than two wins.

"[i]Oh look at me I have a max impact sniper with full aim assist and I'm good![/i]" Bungie does nothing but listen to the little whiny assholes and never to the people that have the sense to make the game better.                             Bungie had plenty of chances to create PvE events, they didn't do it because they obviously don't want to, or think it is not worth the cost/time of creating PvE content, even if it is a small quick one.                           • I play a lot of PvP, but that would be too much. I'm all for a month long quest line that does take up some time, but not very many people would want to put in that much work. It's a great idea, don't get me wrong, it just needs some tweaks. I think what we need right now is additional PvE content in the form of both old and new content. We need to old raids and strikes back but we also need something new to keep us engaged and coming back. This would be a good idea for Destiny 2, maybe. I also don't think that going inside the traveler is too lore-friendly. The fact that we haven't been in the traveler yet means either we physically can't get in for some reason or guardians don't enter out of respect/reverence. Yes, at some point in the life span of Destiny we will interact with the Traveler, but it's too soon for that. Great idea at its core though. Keep being creative. This community could use more people like you who seek to bring fresh innovative ideas to the table rather than calling for nerfs or just generally complaining.

                            No more gay themes. No. Idea is cool, but call it Battlesworn or something else less gay sounding. Crimson Doubles pushed me to the delete button because it sounded so gay.
