Two brothers were given bikes.

Two brothers just received new bikes for Christmas. But before they are allowed to ride the bikes, their father instructs them both to wear helmets. He tells them to look in both directions before they cross a road, to always keep an eye out on each other. Both brothers thank their father before going outside. Now, the younger brother decides to take off his helmet. The older brother, not wanting his younger brother to get hurt, asks him to put his helmet back on. "I don't want to. It itches." the younger brother says. "Dad said to wear the helmet. Put it back on or you could get hurt!" the older brother says. "Dad isn't watching and you're not in charge of me! Just let me ride my bike!" the younger brother retorts. "You could fall and hit your head!" the older brother insists. "Shut up, you're not my boss!" the younger brother kicks off and rides his bike in circles while taunting the older brother, "See? Look, I'm fine! I know what I'm doing! Idiot!" And so this occurs over a period of weeks. The older brother obeys his father, wears his helmet, checks both directions before crossing any streets. The younger brother, puts on his helmet until he is out of his father's sight. Then he takes it off because it feels much better to ride without a helmet. He continues this for several weeks until one day, his tire runs over a stick. The stick pops up and it gets caught in the spines. The bike throws him onto the pavement and his head strikes the concrete. He ends up in a coma. Now, I have a few questions. Did the father advise his children to wear helmets because he wanted to control them? Or did he do it because he wanted them to enjoy life, but to practice safety? What about the older brother, was he wrong to watch over his younger brother? Another question to consider: What if the older brother told his father that the younger one was disobeying him, and the father decided to ground the younger one? Would that have been abuse?

    • I feel like you wanted this to be really thought provoking. It's really not though. Why the hell would it be abuse if the father grounded the young brother? Why the hell would it be wrong for the older brother to watch over the younger brother? How the hell are we supposed to know the fathers motives? We don't know his character. The only thought-provoking question is should the old brother be held accountable. And I say no, because he's a child. He tried to be responsible and get his brother to wear the helmet, but he's a kid, he's not gonna tattle. And anyone who wants to hold a child responsible for failing to do his parents' job is crazy.

    • Was this supposed to be a thought provoking and insightful post about right and wrong? Because all I read was a generic story about a cocky young kid who disobeys his elders just to spite them. To be honest, the little fūcker deserves a concussion. That'll teach him to not be such an annoying prick

      • I dont believe he did. Power may have been an influence BUT in the end he still shouldve worn a helmet. Even without the fathers order. My dad wouldve ordered me to as well. Grounding is not abuse unless you deprive them of food, water, medical, or other human necessities such as schooling.

          • Let's think about this on a higher scale... The law says don't steal stuff from stores A civilian sees another civilian stealing from a store. The civilian tells the stealing civilian to abide by what the law says, the stealing civilian waves it off, saying he has stolen a lot of times before and won't get caught. Walks out the door bragging to the other civilian about how he wasn't caught when he sees the cop just walking about outside of the store, who overhears the conversation. The stealing civilian is now put in jail. The passer-by civilian who say him stealing could have stopped him, but instead just told him not to. Because of this he was eventually caught and sent to jail. The passer-by saw a crime in action and did little to nothing to actually stop It, and was going to let him just walk through if it weren't for that cop outside

Two twin brothers were complete opposites. One was always positive. Whereas his twin brother was perpetually negative. His parents, not knowing how to counter their extreme attitudes, took them to a doctor. The doctor stated that physicially there was nothing with the brothers. "There must be something we can do.." uttered the mother. "If you're willing to try an alternative method, I do have one suggestion." offered the Doctor. "Anything." replied the mother. "Well, take them home and treat them like normal until their birthday. On the day, fill the negative boys room with every gift imaginable. Big bows, ribbons, the works. But his brothers room, fill with sh*t. Like, a good foot of solid waste. See if you can snap them out of it." Unsure, but willing to try anything, the family went home. On the boys birthday, the parents did as the doctor suggested, and filled the negative boys room with gifts, and the positive boys room with sh*t. After about an hour the mother went up to the negative boys room. She peered in and asked him if he liked his gifts. "By the time I open them all it'll be bedtime! And what if there's no batteries? And do I have to share them with my brother? They are mine right? Where am I going to put them all?" Stressed, the mom moved on to the 2nd boys room. Knowing it was full of sh*t, her stress levels started to rise on the way there. Even though this was the son who always braved everything with an unrivalled positivity. However, as she opened the door, she was surprised to find her son pleasantly shovelling sh*t out the window. Brazenly, she walked in and asks her son what it is he's doing? "Cmon mom! Look at this!! With this much sh*t, there's bound to be a pony in here somewhere!!"
