FINALLY The Special Ammo Nerf We Need

I'm glad they are trying to move pvp towards primary weapon gun play. Good move Bungie Edit: A lot of mixed feeling about it so far. We shall see. Edit 2: This is only happening in 3v3 modes people. Also, damn this post blew up

      the changes won't change anything other than the first encounter in normal crucible. in trials, people will just camp around with ice breakers/invectives until they can switch weapons. in normal crucible, you will have to use your primary for the first encounter, but after that it's not gonna be an issue. especially with the aforementioned weapons. now the actual solution to the problem is to go ahead with the change to spawn, but remove regeneration of ammo from all weapons in the crucible. also, make boxes spawn in fewer numbers (2 per map), and much less often (3x per game). also, limit the amount of ammo you get from each box: 2 shotgun rounds, 3 sniper rounds. problem solved.and this is coming from someone who snipes, but it has just gotten out of hand. the same scrubs that blink shotgunned in year one have either started shadestep shotgunning, or sitting in spawn preaiming doorways and hallways the whole match. there's no gun fights anymore. with the method i stated above, snipers would get 9 rounds per match, and shotgunners would get 6. If you are within range with a shotgun, you are either going to get a kill, or get killed by another shotgun. sniping is not quite as much of a guarantee, so they get a whopping one more bullet per box. the potential to get 6-9 kills per match with special is more than enough

    • They're going to need to remove the ammo weapon regen for icebreaker and invective. I hope they realize that... NO special ammo means NO special ammo idc if they're 'exotic' weapons. They could get back their regen ability when special weapon ammo is available though... Also... I think something needs to be done about NLB. Sure it takes skill. But once you master it, it's a very powerful sniper. Imagine going up against a group of NLB users in 3v3. That's basically impossible to counter.

      • Now I hope they nerf special even more in 3v3 gamemodes. Firstly, remove 1-2 special crates from smaller maps. Only give 4 ammo per crate with armor bonuses. This will not be an overkill and we would see even more primary battles. Just having no special at spawn is not nearly enough.

      • I agree that this is the update that we needed for special ammo, however we have yet to see it yet so we can only speculate. I think it''ll be a good start however there will be some issues that I can think of for 3v3. One of those issues being brought up by many is the elimination/trials scene, where if the first person wins then they will already have a HUGE advantage over the other team (assuming they both don't play passive or both teams live long enough for both teams to get special). Another issue I see is that this isn't really going to effect (affect?) anything really in 3v3, except for most people using invective (shotgunners) or ice breaker (Snipers). Invective is already being used quite a bit as it is and this update just encourages it more. Overall I'm excited to see how this update brings a new feel to the crucible, but I think this may cause more of an issue for the future for the trials and elimination game modes. I hope they expand more upon this idea. Now all we need is heavy spawning only once with less rockets and machine gun ammo and only 1 heavy crate!!

        • Kind of already did that. The first time they nerfed special ammo in pvp, I pretty much stopped using it

          MIDA will become unstoppable after this update drops. It's already overused, but with the loss of special ammo at the start and primaries getting more important, it will become the most overused weapon in the history of Destiny. I know that you bastards are already thinking about using it too, you're just tingling at the thought of having nothing to challenge you anymore at mid to long range. I love how people say that it isn't OP yet use it exclusively because they "like it". Yeah, you like being able to get easy kills with 90% aim assist and not have to try at all. This special ammo nerf is a good move I think, but the day that they nerf MIDA will be much more satisfying. EDIT: I'm salty because it's completely true. When's the last time you've played IB or trials since the december update where you haven't seen the majority of players using a MIDA? I certainly can't remember. It's basically as bad as thorn was back in HoW.

            • I really do wish they'd apply it to every game type though and even take it a step further by reducing the spawn locations for special AND increasing the timers another 30 seconds. I love shotguns, but special ammo is just way too prevalent in general. Babysteps I guess.

              • Invective, Ice Breaker. Nothing will be fixed will just have to swap weapons constantly. Makes it worse for everyone because if you don't do said steps you will just be outgunned by enemies with special when you have none.

                  • Not sure why they chose this way though. It'd be better to limit the rounds per spawn, not the number of spawns you get.

                  • All this means is people are going to sit back once it's 3v1 in trials, pick up all the special every round and then there's really going to be crying cuz scrubs won't have special cuz they die too fast and the sweatys all have special because they use strategy. This is going to unbalance rounds 2,4 & 5...at least before scrubs had a chance to get a lucky snipe...now you're never going to have special so u can't rush the snipers with shottys.

                  • If you are getting killed by spawn snipes than you are just going to get killed by primary bullets a few second later...so glad bungie is giving u scrubs the opportunity to increase your avg lifetime...that's the stat that really matter!
