Prior to the December patch that brought along the secretive SBMM there were TONS of posts about SBMM.
The forum was littered with mindless trolls bitching how Bungie NEEDS to implement it. Other people (the sane ones like myself) said hell no and it will ruin pvp. Connection is a top priority and play sweaty every match WILL turn people away.
Well it was turned on in secret and now everyone under the sun was complaining about. Now its "Bungie you dumb -blam!-s why did you do this?!" and "you ruined pvp". All those little crybaby trolls have now shut up about it. Everyone has now been experienced to a SBMM system when its p2p.
To me it seems Bungie got sick of the heat and said "fine lets give them what they want and show them how -blam!-ed up it will make the game".
So my question to you guys ....Bungie likes their "tests" and their "data". They like us not knowing whats going on to get accurate data (swear they have the best psychologists on their dime), but ...
WAS THIS ALL PLANNED TO SHUT UP ALL OF THE BITCHING? Dun dun duuuhnnnnn
They unified all the complaints to basically be about shitty matchmaking. Then with the flip of the switch the gave us exactly what we've been bitching about the last month or more. Now the masses go from "-blam!-ing bungie!!1" to "OMFG thank you !!!!" They are our saviors and listen to the community on fixing big problems.
They essentially created a problem for them to come in like the white knights and save us
TL;DR *read the article its worth it*

pretty much, although i was personally hoping they'ld implement a SBMM that doesn't affect every single game, just put it into a seperate mode (kind of like CSGO's comp, or just something that is seperate from regular crucible).
