When is it okay to remaster a game, is it okay if the game was popular or is it better just leave the game on old gen. Is it a straight up scam to force you to pay the same price for the same game?
Discuss.

Remasters should never be sold for full price, and if you want me to buy a remaster, it better look significantly better than the original, and must be 60fps
-
On good games, yes On bad games, NO

I want all teh remasters. I had a blast playing hours and hours of the gears ultimate edition. And both Halo 1 and 2 remasters brought me back to the good ol' days. Now I yearn for a full blown gears 2 remaster.
-
I won't buy another remastered game until they remaster the original Crash Bandicoot.
-
Ok to some extent, but you don't need to remaster every damn game out there. Sometimes it's just a cheap way to grab some extra cash
-
Some good some horrible but the classics are the best

The remaster of the first gears game is actually pretty good. The entire game was rebuilt from scratch with up to date engines (which is why it's only the first game) and it includes all of the dlc that was available for it too. Also includes a pass for all of the other gears games once they're available through backwards compatibility.

They're a mixed bag.

Time splitters 2.

Too many anymore.

I'm kind of indifferent about remasters. I would like the remastered games be classics like Halo MCC and Uncharted. While I loved The Last of Us I had that feeling it was just a quick money grab... it shouldn't have been remastered so quickly.
-
I'd say it depends on the game. If they remastered a call of duty, I could tell that's just a scam, but if somehow, someone remastered the first two battlefronts, I would gladly buy them. I think it all comes down to whether or not the game was originally a "classic", or if it was just another game out there.

A minimum of at least 10 years or bundled together in a collection.

See I don't know about PS but remasters on XO have been reasonably priced instead of £30-50 for a remastered game most have sat around £15-£30. For me what makes a remaster worth buying again is wether or not it was good enough to me to want to play again looking and running better. If the original prices where charged for these games then I wouldn't rebut them I'd just replay them on my 360 but releasing at a price either half of the original or realising with enough content to justify the price tag then I may very well buy it.

Edited by FrostD: 11/27/2015 11:22:33 PMExamples of Gold Standard remakes Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes Resident Evil HD Remaster Oddworld New n' Tasty In short a remaster must be rebuilt from the ground up. There must be improvement in every single aspect of the game from graphics to sound to gameplay. And New content MUST be added.

Remasters make me wonder if developers are running out of ideas.

We need a remaster of Metroid Prime Trilogy for PC on either Cryengine, Unreal 4, or Frostbite 3.

I think when we get a new platform it's fine; new gen a a chance for players to switch platform holder and so getting s chance to play the best exclusive franchises is nice.

Edited by Psychic Donuts: 11/26/2015 10:59:35 PMRemasters can bring a game back to life... that's enough for me.
-
I like it when it's of a game I haven't played before. If I have played it before, I don't feel like it's really necessary unless it's considerably old and they can make it look a lot better.

I want a 3D Metroid Fusion. Best survival horror ever!

There's nothing inherently wrong with remasters, I'm just bored of them.
