Sniper Aim Assist
Before all you "snipers" start complaining let me ask, what us the point of a sniper? Precision. Snipers are meant for those with pinpoint accuracy. Aim assist takes that and makes sniping way too cheap. I cant count how many times I've played skirmish with an enemy team full of snipers sitting in one spot landing headshot after headshot. As soon as Aim Assist on snipers go, we will see who the real snipers are.
Also dont use the argument that "snipers take skill" because it doesnt take any skill to sit on the other side of the map aiming down to get a headshot (WITH AIM ASSIST).
Im interested to see what you guys think. Please let me know.
Edit: For those who are claiming "Aim assist will just make skillful snipers better" I just want to go ahead and clarify that my target are people who get lucky with headshots all the time and just sit in the back and watch corners, hence me using the word "Sniper" in quotes. I honestly dont mind if a skillful sniper takes me out without Aim assist, props to them.

snipers should have zero assist or magnetism (providing they are different stats) and getting hit while aiming your scope should have a noticeable effect. when being hit snipers should not be able to keep aiming steady at you like there was nothing going on. Snipers are a one shot kill weapons, it should be really hard to land that shot and really take skills. Im a mediocre sniper, yet, I keep landing headshots, even when Im pretty sure I was off by a few feet.

Also, snipers do take skill. It just depends on the way people use them. Although, this applies to any special weapon not just snipers in particular. 2 body-shotting with Praedyths or camping back of the map (to name 2 common instances) don't take much skill. Not having enough time to reload your weapon, swapping to a sniper and quick-scoping them in the head does take skill. If snipers didn't take any skill to use whatsoever, people like Kjhovey wouldn't be widely popular among the community.

[/quote] Honestly I agree that aim assit is a little high on some snipers. I myself prefer a sniper like stillpiercer with a more passive aim assit value but I quoted you because the problem is you and your team not the snipers in this instance. If a team is staying in one spot and sniping it's likely that your counter stragedy is bad. Walking/sprinting into a snipers sight line is basically giving the kill away because your head is at head level. People are predictable and it makes sniping easier. [spoiler]I'm in no way a master but I'd say I'm pretty good. I have a 76.3% precision ratio with snipers in crucible on my hunter (: Meaning 3/4 of my snipes are headshots. Don't think aim assit handed me all those headshots[/spoiler]

I 100% agree with this. I'm normally a sniper and I have no idea how to use aim assist, tbh it screws me over most of the time. I see a guy and it starts kinda following him and me not anticipating that, i push the stick to far and completely wiff him. Meanwhile in trails of osiris people are quick scoping at shotgun range...

7 RepliesI don't care that much about aim assist, it seems silly to have it but whatever. What I think should be looked at, is the ability to res-snipe in trials. Idk how they would make this "fair" through an adjustment, but it's pretty dumb a person can sit back and easily kill a person over and over when they get revived. Shoot me in the head once fine, good job, but over and over without being able to move?

Yes get read of the aim assist and hidden hand on sniper rifles so sniping will take skill again.

8 RepliesAim Assist does not aim for people. It simply slows the reticle when hovering over an enemy, the higher the AA, the slower the reticle moves.

I snipe. I use shotguns and sidearms when I get tired. Because they are easier to use. It's like getting off work on a Friday when I use a shotgun.

I never noticed an aim assist. There certainly isn't for me when I snipe. I usually get my crosshair as close to the enemy before ads. If it doesn't land on the head I make adjustments. I could be wrong though. I don't play pvp all the time and I don't snipe that often either.

26 RepliesIf I gave you 3 knifes, one being dull, one decently sharp, and the last sharper than the rest. You would use the decently sharp knife. If I gave you vegetables to cut, you would complain that your knife doesn't work well enough. Then you'd witness someone else pick up the sharpest knife, and utilize it to its best capabilities. Angered that you haven't utilized your resources you demand that the other guy should have to use a dull knife too. That way he doesn't have an edge on anyone. Then when he is given the dull knife, he still utilizes it to it's fullest potential while having more skill. Why use the dull knife when there is a sharp one right there?

Aim assist is overrated. You act if it's an aimbot or something. It's just a console feature you see in so many games. Aim assist is on every weapon. It's created for console purpose because aiming with your thumb vs aiming with your hand (pc mouse) is a huge difference. The very skilled players don't need aa. For Avarage players it's useful. Stop whining and deal with it.

Please stop this sniper nerf stuff if Bungie nerf snipers it'll make raids harder to do. If removed aim assist I have no problem at all it's the dmg and range that I'm worried about.
