Hammer of Sol should not be nerfed...

...(to the ground) [b]Update:[/b] the nerfs are cool. Not too hard but effective. Disclaimer: Hammer of Sol should be nerfed no matter what, just not to oblivion. The last paragraph has a tl;dr Vanilla subclasses and supers could probably be buffed instead. The problem with nerfing the Sunbreaker's "Hammer of Sol" is the risk of it underperforming in PvE. It's great for ad control and DPS on a boss when combined with melting point. Please keep in mind that I have played with every subclass in PvE and PvP. My favorites are Defender, Sunsinger, and Sunbreaker(lol.) Anyway, here is what I propose could be done to the supers and abilities instead: *I'm not suggesting that every idea be implemented [b]together.[/b] It would make some things overpowered if that were to happen. Gunslinger: 1.) Add Golden Gun precision damage to PvE and PvP. Reward players for headshots. 2.) Add 5 more seconds to the duration of Golden Gun. This will allow more time to find and aquire targets. 3.) Give Golden Gun hunters damage reduction. 25-50% reduction (cyberattaq says a cool 30%.) (credit: CWard17 and Excarkun) >or forget about an armor buff for GG in favor of the "restoration of 'quick draw defense'" -BeserkOne 4.) Increase the base damage of Golden Gun. Bladedancer: 1.) Increase the duration of Arc Blade by 5 seconds. This will allow more time to chase down an opponent. 2.) If users equip Vanish, activate invisibility as soon as the super is activated at no cost of super energy. 3.) Increase the damage in PvE. Bladedancers should be rewarded for their bravery when attacking powerful enemies at close range. This might better its usefulness against majors and such. If one bladedancer activation doesn't kill a major, I'll cry. 4.) Buff Arc Bolt damage for Bladedancers and Stormcallers. Maybe up to 100 damage give or take 10. (credit: GHOSTFACE) Nightstalker (DLC I know): 1.) A direct impact from the Shadow Shot arrow should suppress opponents immediately. This will make Shadow Shot more viable against super charged guardians and ability happy majors and bosses. 2.) Increase the duration of the void anchor's tethering across all 3 attribute selections (Quiver, etc.) 3.) Or instead of increasing the tethering duration, make tether activate instantly so that supers are shut down. (Credit: NotTooSpookyMink) 4.) Improve Vortex grenade for both Nightstalkers and Voidwalkers. (credit: D3STR0YD4TSW4G.) Striker: 1.) A bit more damage to the charged storm fist attack. Makes sense for a subclass called "Striker." 2.) Increase Fist of Havoc damage in PvE. An earthquake of light should not merely tickle bosses and majors. 3.) Add priority of FoH staggering in PvE. It sucks to use the FoH and immediately be met with an earth shattering smack from a big bad boss in retaliation. Such a powerful attack should stun the boss to allow the Guardian some time to distance him or herself from the boss. Defender: 1.) Increase the armor from Armor of Light and increase the duration of weapons and blessing of light for the Titan that generated the Ward of Dawn. This will help make Defender a more effective subclass in the Crucible without being OP. 2.) Improve the damage reduction or integrity of the Ward of Dawn when the owner is inside of the bubble. With more damage reduction, the bubble won't be so easily destroyed by supers as long as the summoner of the bubble is inside. This will bring the bubble closer to that "indestructible" description it has. 3.) Remove Iron Harvest or make Bathed in Light a base perk and add an Armor Lock type ability. This Armor Lock ability should have the damage resistance of a sword so that it's not op like in Halo Reach. To active it we would have to hold [i]B[/i] or [i]O[/i] etc. Make the duration short and add a short timer as a cool down or make it drain melee energy. This armor lock ability would be great for countering shotguns and rocket launchers. (credit: BeserkOne) Voidwalker: 1.) Add staggering priority to Nova Bomb. Imagine saving your teammates from a teleporting boss by staggering him before he ground pounds them during a nightfall. How clutch would that be? 2.) Rebuff Grenades. Buff vortex grenade for both Voidwalkers and Nightstalkers (credit: D3STR0YD4TSW4G.) 3.) Have Energy Drain abilities not require a kill in order to be activated. (credit: D3STR0YD4TSW4G.) 4.)Increase Nova Bomb damage in PvE. It merely tickles top tier enemies. Sunsinger: 1.) Increase the duration of Radiance by 2 or 3 seconds. 2.) Rebuff Grenades (credit: D3STR0YD4TSW4G.) >Just kidding, I remembered how well the Grenades are performing even now. 3.) Improve Radiant Skin (credit: D3STR0YD4TSW4G.) 4.) Improve Scorch melee consistency. It fails too often. (credit: D3STR0YD4TSW4G.) 5.)Song of flame increases damage done for guardians nearby by 20% in addition to reducing cooldowns. (credit: Amozite) That's what I thought of so far. Please let me know what you think. Please note: I'm not about to demand that the changes I propose be implemented. I'm also not trying to force my opinions onto others. My goal is to provide inspiration to Bungie and forum goers. Let's talk about this. I'm open to any ideas. Hammer of Sol needs to be nerfed. I just hope Bungie does it well. Please express your ideas for nerfs and buffs, I like reading em. Suggestions for Sunbreaker and Hammer of Sol nerfs I really like: 1.) Remove proximity detonation (i.e. the hammer explodes without hitting the opponent) (credit: I zod I) 2.) Replace the hammer healing with "something cool" (credit: Cromica) 3.) Reduce the Hammers to 3-5 and keep everything else the same. [b]PvP Only!!![/b] Actually, forget everything I posted before this. Bungie if you see this, please find a way to implement the following quote: "I say just remove all supers and all weapons. Just give everyone Khvostovs. No special or heavy just Khvostov. That way nobody can complain about supers, blink shotgunning, shotgun sliding, fusion rifle sniping (is that still a thing?), or anything. And because everybody has Khvostov and there are no supers you'll get fair gunplay without having to worry about anybody popping a panic super. That'll be the best test of skill." -TheKid_803

          • What I don't understand is why does striker have a shield while running. Shoulder charge definitely looks like a striker ability, but the shield one looks more like a defender ability.

                    • To those that don't believe the Hammers have Nova bomb explosion size: Put on ur warlock. Put on Lance. And when you use it, you'll notice it IS A SMALLER EXPLOSION. Also, harder to kill cuz you have to actually hit the target, or close to them

                      • Fix for sunbreakers: Lower HoS base damage reduction enough so a high impact sniper will OHK on headshot. Then add an effect to last perk in tree (sunspot perk): while hammer of sol is active, incoming damage is reduced further. (This will bring it up to current dmg reduction levels, maybe a little more). Sunbreakers fixed and are not neutered. Can spec for healing or more damage reduction cant have both.

                        • Just change Cauterize to ONLY trigger when a grenade Kills a target or a Charged Melee hits a target. And maybe oh idk...Make it the main Speed Class of the three choices. Then Recovery second highest with Armor very low to offset the high Super Reduction.

                                    • Honestly I think in order to balance the Warlock void walker super ( on account of the hit-a-leaf-and-get-blown-up, get killed while suspended in the air trying to let it rip, and the time it takes to land) is to change the perk that allows three separate bombs. I think it should allow for three completely separate bombs and bring down the AOE. That would equivocate it to golden gun and shadowshot. I would settle for an armor increase on my Stormcaller too. I just think our specials require us to be better players than Hunters or Titans in PvP because we don't have much in the way of pop and drop specials.

                                          Rather than actually nerfing sunbreaker, why not make their hammer explosions cause self damage (two hammers to suicide). That would force them my fellow Titans to use more strategy and would potentially create better high risk/high reward scenarios. Also 3-5 hammers is all we have when we use any other super perk besides forgemaster. So you are suggesting removing the number one most used perks of cauterize and/or forge master? I think that would hurt the PvE side and by then, it would be too late.

                                            All of you bitching about hammers... What needs to be looked into is the extremely bad hit detection. Getting killed through a wall even though I managed to get to cover gets pretty old, pretty fast.

                                            • I really wish there was such a system in which there were two separate skill trees: one for PvP and one for PvE. This way, gameplay will seem fresh and more suitable for different play styles. This way, perks such as Cauterize do not have to be nerfed altogether if Bungie ever decided to nerf a certain skill. This would take a lot of effort though on Bungie's side.
