Destiny: Into the Night

"Shit, man. Shiiiiiiiii-" "Shut. It. Up. We’re cloaked, zero ion emissions - hidden. They've no idea we're here." Xayne-13 tugged gently on the controls, cautiously backing the ship into a crevasse on a nearby asteroid. "Seriously though. How did a ketch that size get so close without a proximity warning?" Mala typed away furiously on the navigation station, spinning holograms around and scrutinizing them closely. "Ah. Damn, of course. They came out of that dust storm down on the surface." Through the front viewport, Xayne-13 could see the massive, oddly shaped vessel filling his vision as it approached. "They flew through that storm? Gotta be the either Wolves or Serpents, only Fallen crazy enough to pull a stunt like that." Da'lym's eyes were wide with awe as he stared at the video screen on his console. "Scanning…cross-referencing our data base…hull markings match those of an old House, the House of…hmm. The nearest translation is House of Sovereign." "What the shi-" "Can it, Day. No way we’re gonna tangle with them. We've got bigger fish to fry." "Oh piss." Mala's face grew pale, even more so than what would be considered normal for an Awoken. "Xayne? They're stopping. And turning around." "Shit." --- 3 Months Earlier --- "The Vanguard want what?" Mala was clearly less than pleased, brow furrowed heavily. "Apparently a meeting with you, Xayne, and Da'lym. Zavala didn't mention any specifics." Xayne-13's ghost disappeared once it had delivered its message. "What do you two think it's about?" Da'lym asked his squad mates as he got up from his seat in the lounge and grabbed his helmet. Xayne-13 and Mala stood and checked their gear in unison. "Knowing you, I'd expect some manner of reprimand," Mala quipped, "but since Xayne and I are requested, I have no idea." "Yeah, yeah, always with the trash talk…" "Alright, let's go see what he wants." Xayne-13 led the way up the stairs from the lounge and out into the main concourse of the Tower. As the three walked down the stairs to the Vanguard War Room, Xayne-13 saw Comander Zavala standing in a doorway to a conference room to one side of their War Table beckoning the three to come inside. Once the trio entered the conference room, the door slid shut. Xayne-13's robotic eyes took a moment to adjust to the dim lighting of the smaller room. He could make out three - no, four - figures standing around a small holo table: Commander Zavala, Ikora Rey, Cayde-6, and…the Speaker? "Greeting, Guardians," the Speaker began. "I'm sure you're wondering why you're here. I assure you, your questions will be answered and undoubtedly many more will be raised." Thanks for the read, ladies and gents. More to come shortly!
