The amount of back and forth on shotguns has grown tiring. I have a very simple point to make and it is this:
Shotguns are not the problem here. Map Size, Design, and Layout in almost all crucible maps promote heavy shotgun use.
Here's the thing 6v6 is fun but doesn't offer much in terms of variety. It also doesn't make sense to have huge maps when there's only 12 people total on them. Also considering every map is filled entirely with halls, corners, and cramped spaces its no wonder they are the heaviest used weapon in PvP. However if there were a map(s) similar to good old "Blood Gulch" the use of shotguns would drop on these as it would naturally promote scout and auto rifles as well as great sniper battles. Who knows maybe even a few fusion rifles. Big spaces in between cover yet not without ways to move up and be protected would offer a nice change and possibly promote new game types. Rift, Salvage, and Zone Control would all do well on bigger maps.
TL:DR. Bigger Maps, Less Cover = Less Shotguns, Bigger Weapon Diversity.

When bungie does make larger maps we can make this happen however as of now it'd be much easier to change the guns rather than the maps, we will need better maps in the future though

Edited by Kone19ps: 11/3/2015 7:43:42 PMThey need maps with a mix of both. Sniping lanes and close quarters. The main problem is there are barely any buffer zones. Any sniping lane can also be considered a close quarters path on most maps. I like bannerfall a lot seems to have the mix right with both lanes and close quarters with spawn zones having a buffer zone with only a couple flanking close quarters paths to them. Even fusions have a good chance if you're not skilled on it with the doorways and open spaces beyond

Honestly having power weapons on spawn with ammo at the beginning of the game is another factor to consider. In halo shotguns and snipers are considered so powerful that only two of them can exist at the same time. If the default loadout was AR/shotty or sniper the game would be absolutely miserable with the number of one shots going off left and right.
-
Totally agree with you. There is one flaw though. In the big maps we'll end up with snipers who camp and then there will be people who will cry need for snipers then
-
I agree they need spread out maps
-
Exactly!! I've said it over and over. Additionally the small maps with Sprint routs to corners and shorty areas, radar, sporadic spawn, and mostly obvious goals require little to no communication to function. Oh B is turning red lets go there, we have 2/3 but let's just roam for a kill, hey buddy the enemy zone is right behind you but ok you're going to get kills, ok. Larger maps and adding them for variety, removing radar, even alter score to not include kills but just team goals would hold people up, drive communication, promote strategy, and make it much more interesting. As it stands now it's a free for all, selfish, silent, predictable, monotone experience.

Ohhh my god finally a post about shotguns that has a real solution to the over use of them and I agree I love using shotguns but if I'm in one of the few big maps I have a chance to pull out a sniper and reck face I always said to people that destiny need a big team mode so we can play on big maps so there variety.

I agree. I don't understand why bungie thinks we all want these shitty super small multi leveled tunnel systems they are terrible! Every map promotes chaos. And chaos is shit. Every map promotes shotguns limits the snipers harshly and makes explosions of every kind op because you're stuck in a -blam!-ing mouse maze. The moon map is by far the best map and it the only one like it and I never get the chance to play there. We want big open maps! Look at any successful shooter ever and the pvp had a range of large open maps to small corridors. You have only done the damn small over complicated maps

Edited by xIronKnight89x: 10/22/2015 4:53:04 PMTHIS!! I've played that huge control map ONCE since TTK came out and I haven't seen it since. It was so glorious though! People were sniping and one guy even tried to use one of the turrets! It was sooooo much better than the other maps that are shoebox size by comparison. Why can't we have big maps with clusters of buildings and underground tunnels and stuff??! Come the -blam!- ON make some interesting maps!!

Very true...dedicated servers, big maps, 24+ players, problem solved...
-
Thank you people r complaining about shotguns sniped when really their 3 to 5 feet away not 30 to 50 feet and the maps promote them... People want bungie nerf shotguns again, they will never be satisfied until shotguns kill at Titan's melee ranges...
-
Yeah, good points on the map issue.

Edited by TheShadow: 10/25/2015 11:28:08 PMHalo 5 this Tuesday. Problem solved.

Both of them are

Screw big maps, too many campers
-
Agreed. I like all the maps on mars. Especially the ones that aren't in the playlist anymore. All of them except one were so balanced.
-
-
Remaking the maps would take infinitely more time than just putting a range nerf on shotguns.
-
Yes, somebody that approaches this a different way. Thank you
-
But the maps are the maps, they aren't changing them. So as of now, yes, shotguns are the problem.
-
Sprint is the problem. That's what makes shotguns good. You can move faster forward than you can backward. It's pretty simple man.

Edited by Jester-13: 10/24/2015 1:38:32 AMGuys let's bump this and get it seen by more. This is the real solution to PvP problems
-
Agreed. Much agree. Wow agree.

Buff the maps Bungie! Yo man! I found the solution for you.
