For those who didn't believe in the 'slippery slope' of Silver...
Notice how in the return section of Eververse Shop it says:
"[b][i]Consumable[/i][/b] items are nonreturnable"
Notice how there currently aren't any consumable items in the store, only emotes. This means that you can assume they'll be adding consumable items sooner or later.
Current consumable items in destiny provide XP boosts, glimmer boosts, and even increase to exotic/raid drop rates. Making these available to buy with silver will make it pay2win, which the majority of you denied would ever happen!
I can see it now. A 'free' raid with ridiculous drop rates, and the only way to increase them is to buy a consumable item that increases them.
EDIT: [spoiler]They also nerfed the drop rates for motes, strange coins, and weapon parts today. Coincidence?[/spoiler]
EDIT 2 (Jackolytes): [spoiler]For those of you bringing up the jackolytes, notice how they are the only cosmetic consumable item (along with the other halloween item xur sold).
They only last for a limited time because they coincide with a holiday, and like their holidays, these consumables also last for a limited time.
I think that people wouldn't want to pay real money for something that only lasts for a limited time, and has no real impact on your game. I also think bungie would be logical enough to realize this, leaving the only possible consumable items to be ones that effect progression and would make the game pay2win.
Also, only adding jackolytes wouldn't be a bad thing(although i would never buy one). I think we should all be more concerned about the potential of pay2win items.[/spoiler]

While I'm sure a lot of you are pleased(like myself), he seems to be avoiding the possibility of adding other consumables in the shop, like motes, strange coins, and other items we've been talking about. Seems shady if you ask me, but we'll see...[/b]

Did you know that Amazon is selling req packs for pretty much $25 a pack? Advertised as giving a chance at getting turn the tide of battle weapons? They need you. Save them.

Bungie listens, and there are smart people in the room making decisions. They know how far they can push the microtransactions before the community revolts. If they cross that threshold, many of us will walk away, some louder than others. I hope that they remain reasonable, and keep it above the slippery slope. But if not, that's fine too. I'll find a new game... Rather get back to some older games!

My last run on KF: 310 exotic chest piece 307 Raid chest piece 303 pulse 302 Shotgun Not saying that is every time, but it does happen. I also believed that they would be adding pay2win into the game when all this crap came to light, but they have addressed it. I'm not saying blindly believe, but give them the benefit of the doubt. All the first accusations of consumables for cash were officially marked as wrong information. You cannot expect them to make blanket statements like what you want because what if they offer a pay real money for consumables option, even if it's not the way you think? Say something could be bought with strange coins or rw money or what if they start selling consumables to increase drops on ships and sparrows? (since they are mostly asthetic) the first thing some one would do is quote their earlier post and everyone would believe the company is evil. Maybe we need to accept that since not everything is dropping all at once as far as content goes, we should just chill and see what happens instead of trying to spot the boogeyman. Might not hurt to also remember that everyone makes mistakes and not everything they do is the company trying to f*** us over.

Absolutely ridiculous. Explains why Oryx only dropped 2 shards today on my Titan - they've purposely made the drop rates terrible so that people use that consumable. It's unfortunate that there are so many Desticles throwing money at the screen that this has become (most likely) inevitable.

We've all been running around at level 40 since day one of TTK. Who cares? Same with the sub class boosts. Who hasn't had that maxed out since the first week? The answer is new players. And as far as the raid boosts for drops go... As a player that has never played a raid due to lack of time/fireteam I really don't care. But what I would love to see is a purchasable consumable that lets raid gear drop from Strikes. Bungie, if you're listening. I have a good job and make good money. Let me buy Raid gear without having to play a Raid and you'll have my money. For each tight wad that drops off, there will be a player like me that values his time more than his money. I'd gladly pay 5 bucks for a gun than spend 5 hours hoping for a chance at it.

First off Strange Coins are not consumables. They are currency. Motes can be classified as the same/ but can also still be consumed for XP. As long as Engrams, Weapons, Armor(Outside of Transmog possibilities), Three of Coins and Strange Coins stay off the Eververse Trading Company. Then I don't see a problem with anything else.

I'm not to upset with this none of these seem to game changing. From the little raiding I've done in Kings fall I've not had a drop problem.

Especially since he specified consumables that buff drop rates IN Kings Fall Raid.......there is plenty of other content for buffed drop rates. I've learned to not put much stock in these quotes over the last year, as it usually ends up being a play on words......or just outright BS

Not selling for kings fall. Why not say we won't be selling anything that offers any kind of in game advantage. I did notice the strange coins rate dropped from 5 to 4 with faction levels. I can see Tess collecting all the others to sell to us. Haha All this being said other companies do it. Assassins Creed, you can pay real money to buy everything for sale on your first day. I really hope destiny doesn't go in that direction, it cheapens the whole thing.

4 RepliesYour argument for why they won't have jackolyte type consumables doesn't make sense. If you think people won't pay money for something purely cosmetic why would they even put emotes. Just because they aren't permanent won't make a difference. There are games out there making money off of limited time cosmetics I.E. anything from Nexon.
