So light level determines quality of drop...
Does the amount gained for next light level matter, for instance 290.1 vs 290.9?
If I see a blue engram drop, but I'm not at my highest light level, I pause and change my stats, just in case it automatically decodes. I've let them go to postmaster as well, but some are already decoded, and I can't tell when it decoded, I'm assuming it looks at my light level the instant I open postmaster.
Any information, or even speculation requested!

No at cryptarch time the best method is Decrypt one item at a time Exit cryptarch Out on higher level gear Repeat I guess when picked up but I always ran my highest gear anyways

I have tested this and it is random, some say if you are higher then 300 you will receive 310 exotic. I am 308 on my hunter and still got 2 exotics 290. Getting a bit fed up of how EVERYTHING in this game is so -blam!-ing Random. Same with Raids. I got 3 - 300 chest pieces on my Titan, like give me a -blam!-ing break. The shit that drops from raids should adlease be higher then what your current light level is NOT LOWER !

The only difference between drops I believe is either above or below 300 for exotics otherwise most thigs don't make much difference
