Nerfing shotguns because of crucible is starting to become really disgusting. Just because they are powerful in crucible, doesn't mean they are overpowered on PvE. Actually, they are pretty weak, useless in crota, useless in vog, and useless in oryx (especially oryx) and I don't think bungie realizes this. They are so caught up in the crucible kids complaining, they don't realize that's only helping them, and severely impacting PvE. They are becoming weaker and weaker every day now. Some of them require the best perks to even be considered decent. Bungie, all I ask is you take a step back and focus on the game as a whole, not just PVP. Also wanted to point out there's a chance you might get knee pads in the new update. That's just stupid. Also bungie heads up The Chaperone still sucks. But hey, I understand, giving players knee pads is more important.
[b][i]EDIT:[/i][/b] so for all the crucible kids who don't know how shot package will effect PvE, that's not the main point. The main point is that shotguns are getting hammered over and over again, and it's starting to affect PvE. Shot package can be very useful. It can make it so crits are easier to hit. My conspiracy theory can't 1 shot a level 8 captain when I have 301 light and it has 300 damage, even if it's mostly head shots. That's ridiculous.shot package helps all bullets hit crits, thus successfully obtaining a kill

Actually they originally only neefed them by 45% damage for PVE!!!! They haven't eve nerfed then for PvP yet!

They need to give out knee pads because of all the dick Suckers crying to nerf everything. The only thing that needed a fix was Thorn and TLW.

You clearly aren't a day one alpha player or you would know that the game is the most balanced it's been. Shotguns got a 100percent damage increase awhile back and it broke pve. They scaled it back 50 percent and its now perfect. Just like auto rifles. Your just misguided or misinformed. The games the best it's been.

Crucible kids have always been the ones bitching and moaning, hurting the pve crowd. Remember the original Vex? We could limit pvp to spud guns and someone would still be crying. That being said, shotguns don't have much use in pve at this point in the game. Not sure the shot package is going to hurt the pve side of things much.

Shot package does need to go. I would decimate matches with my felwinters with knee pads and shot package, aggressive ballistics and send it. Shot package being removed is beneficial to everyone and gives you a real feeling of a shotgun. Insert edit: also shotguns aren't at a strong suit in pve ATM so it won't really effect anyone. Snipers have taken a huge jump this game so let that settle in for a moment

I just think they should bring down the range on the shotguns a little bit in PvP. I played skirmish earlier and a guy on the other team was using Universal Remote. He killed my whole team including me 3 times in a row. After that I made him waste his ammo by blinking all around while he tried to shoot me. He ran out of ammo and I went on a reign of terror. Carried my team to victory with 24 kills. Adapt to the situation and shotguns aren't to hard to beat.

Shot package wasn't useful in PvE anyway. Just get a heavy sword, they replaced 1.1.1 shotguns :(

Shotguns are overpowered in pve! The instances you describe are situational. Run any strike with a shotty and tell me it's not tearing stuff up.

Is prefer full auto over shot package any day in pve. Don't see why the pve people are getting all butthurt over the sp nerf.

PvE shotguns were only good in HoW. Never has the sniper fallen from grace on a real endgame PvE content. If a boss can quake, you do not want to be near it, its that simple.

Only people who use a sniper complained about shotguns being overpowered because they can't counter a shotgun. It's their fault for using a sniper if they can't counter a shotgun, just like its our fault for using a shotgun if we can counter a sniper.

They'll need to bump up the shotgun damage multiplier for enemies of the light again. Last buff doubled damage in PVE perhaps, how much should they increase now?

The problem with shotguns is the range variances. In halo all shotguns had the same range. If you had a shotgun you KNEW where the sweet spot for the one hit kill was and everyone had the same distance. Just turn off the ranges to give shotguns the same range. Then you will start to see people using different perk choices. Problem solved and you will never need to adjust this weapon any more.

Why shouldn't a gun type that has been unfairly hammering millions of guardians since day get hammered back? I agree with nerfing the hell out of them because they need it, they are too overused and too powerful IN PVP, not PVE, I agree with PVE, they need to be stronger in PVE due to the risk/reward factor you put in, they need to be able to take down a target in a clip if your going in. But in PVP they should not be able to kill from as far as they do, they are broken and have been a problem since day 1 and will continue to be a problem until the range perks you can roll with the shotguns are removed or toned down.
