Let's talk about money.

I've been hearing a ton of complaints about how little people feel was added in year two and now Destiny has the audacity to add micro transactions?! Destiny was given to us described as the first fps/console mmo. So let's look at it that way and make some comparisons. Destiny costs 60 dollars right out of the gate. Assuming you got the game on release there has been two dlcs priced at 20 dollars and one at 40 dollars. Total price is 140 dollars. Tack on two more dlcs this year and we are sitting at 180 dollars. For two years of games destiny costs 180$, now with fancy optional micro transactions. As destiny is supposed to be an mmo I want to compare it to other mmos. World of Warcraft has a 15$/month subscription fee. This means that after two years you have paid 360$. For two years of games you have paid 360$. Now I know you can make the argument, "there is special deals you can purchase where you pay for the whole year." These deals bring the prices down to between 11 and 12 dollars a month. Assuming the lowest possible cost, you still pay 264$ for two years. This is all assuming no micro transaction purchases. And remember that world of Warcraft also has paid dlc. The most recent being warlords of draenor. Priced at 20$. By comparison Destiny is cheap. I will say destiny does not have the depth of content that WOW does, but WOW has been out for nearly 10 years longer than destiny. WOW has also had the same cost since the beginning. There are other comparisons. If you'd like to talk about them, I would love to hear your opinions. Other possible comparisons that come to my mind are Eve online, guild wars 2, and rift. If you have any others let me know.
