About The Sunbreaker.....

To everyone begging to get the Sunbreaker nerfed, hear me out, there is something I want to put into perspective for you. First, I've been a titan main since the beta. So, I know what I'm talking about. It's no secret that titans were, by far, the weakest class for PvP in Year One. We were laughed at when looking for Trials teams. The only thing Fist of Havoc was good for was as a Counter-super. But listen to this, because of people complaining about what the "Fist of Panic" was used for, Bungie nerfed it, but didn't tell anyone. In Update 2.0, Bungie nerfed the bonus armor you get mid Fist of Havoc. Since the update, I've been killed by shotguns mid FoH. Because of all the innate problems with the Striker subclass, no titan in their right mind would use it in PvE, which means that all you see in PvE is Defenders, severely limiting how titans can play. No Titan in their right mind would use defender in PvP (Unless doing that infinite orb strat). Which severely limits the way a Titan can be played. Now, because of the stealth nerf, the only reason to even play a titan, was void. Warlocks could shut down supers better. Now here comes TTK. Each class gets a new subclass. Hunters get a supportive class, one they really needed to be truly helpful in PvE (not bashing PvE bladedancers, I'm just saying). Warlocks got subclass that allows for insane add clearing and great boss dps; all with out having to get close, unlike the other close range supers. Titans got a range class that lets them clear adds well and do good boss dps. Because of the way the hammer travels in an arc and has travel time, the titan has been gifted with extra armor, to allow it to survive. Now that I've gotten that out, lets talk a little more about the subclass itself. Every perk in the subclass is about making our super better. We don't have perks that increase our gun play or overall pace like hunters, or ridiculous ability regen like warlocks. Every 4-5 mins, we get to kill some people. Other than that, it's like the titan still hasn't changed. Imagine, if your class has been shafted since the launch of the game, getting the worst exotics, the worst looking gear, joke subclasses for pvp and only one option for pve. Then, by the Grace of God, you finally get a subclass that lets you preform like the others, a subclass that isn't a joke. And, just as you are getting the hang of it, learning your limits. People go up in arms to get it nerfed. This subclass, that you have been waiting for since launch, is getting nerfed, and there is nothing you can do about it because Bungie doesn't listen to the little guys, they listen to who whines the most. So, we sit, we wait. Think about this as well, what about PvE? Sunbreaker doesn't do any better than any other subclass in PvE, so what then? PvE players get shafted too? Anyways, sorry for the length and thank you to everyone who read it all. As a close, Bungie, if you nerf the subclass, PLEASE, don't hit it to hard. No one wanted to be a titan in year one, don't make that happen again.

    • Obviously they shouldn't nerf it in PvE. PvP on the other hand does need a nerf on armour, because when combined with regen on each kill it becomes very difficult to kill a sunbreaker (unless you are a hunter of course)

      I don't under stand why all the ppl the play hunters are so mad about this subclass, hunter got a sub class that will kick you out of your super if the shit even touches you.... So as a bow hunter with a well placed shot, can stop hammers, lightning hands, radiance, blade dancing, and Golding guns. Stop crying that the Titan got a range super an learn to play your classes.

        • It just needs a reduction in armor. It literally ended most of the games I played tonight because a single Titan can get 1500 points. They're too hard to kill

          • A roaming distance super with extra armour; exploding projectiles that regen health; and the potential to have 7 of those exploding health regening [i][b]tracking[/b][/i] hammers. Sunbreaker gets ALL of the benefits of other classes supers with none of the drawbacks inherent in the other classes. I'm sorry dude, Solar Titan is just a teensie bit broken right now. I know Titan's have been shafted for a while now with regard to PvP utility but Sunbreaker needs to be reigned in a bit. Maybe nerf the amount of hammers, or nerf the duration of the super, or maybe even nerf the amount of armour you can spec into for a given build--I dunno. Solar Titan absolutely [i]is[/i] broken now in PvP... ...which is why I rolled a Sunbreaker the other day ;)

            • Ok let me put this out there. Titans in the beginning where never the weakest class. The hunter's supers were just so good that they overshadowed the others. If warlocks did not have self rez which made it popular for VoG it would have possibly been in the same boat as titans.

              PvE is not important. Nothing is hard in PvE, no matter which subclass or which weapons you are using or whatever. So keeping something thats OP in PvP (where EVERYTHING matters) for sake of PvE is ridiculous. Nerfing a game breaking ability (hammer of sol) down to being just a very, very, very good ability in PvE/PvP is not shafting anybody. And even if it were to "shaft PvE players", which it isn't, that would be better than breaking PvP- again, since it really doesn't matter how good anything is in PvE anyways. The whole argument about how bad titans have been and how you think the gear has been looking like shit etc. I truly don't get. They have not been bad at all, best grenade in the game year 1, best mobility, a great counter super etc.. Think they suck so bad then why the f have you been playing a titan? Also, why would your opinion about the look of a f-ing piece of gear matter to anybody? Bungie should balance the game according to your fashion sense???

              • Striker Titans were beast in trials. That panic smash had me wipe whole teams on more occasions than I can remember. Sol hammer is op in terms of armour though.

              • I main defender in PvP. Out of the mainstream and severely under-estimated. If placed right you can get so many kills that a regular super couldn't manage. I don't know why people say defender is useless in PvP without trying it. It had the only grenade that could stop supers and abilities in the game until year 2 came along. I love defender. Give it its dues.

                • Didn't read it all but it sums up to we were the weakest class before and now it's our time to shine. But the fact is. It is the most broken super in the game. Theoretically you could take a team out with just 1 hammer and have enough time to find the respawn and kill it again. You can hardly get killed cause instant regen and shield regen. (No it doesn't take 2 headshots with a high impact sniper) I'm confident that it's gonna get nerfed prett soon. On the mean while I'll make a Titan and enjoy the shit out of it. Untill they nerf it and it becomes poop again.

                  • My 1st 9-0 was as a Titan..I main warlock. I never found titans lacking in PvP honestly besides defender bubble being useless 90% of the time.. Lighting grenades are the best PvP grenades and the FoP is a great bladedancer killer so that's really all i needed

                    • I'd be happy to see a 2% decrease to the EXTRA armor they get during hammer of sol. That way, they can't survive a golden gun round (GG currently does 199 damage to a Titan using HoS), but almost all other damage will be the same. This would also (I think, don't quote me on this) allow blade dancer to take them in one stab, seeing as to even GET that close they'd either have to be really good or really lucky.

                      • Honestly, I switch to Titan many times back and forth for pvp use, only. In my opinion, after a the blade dancer got it's much needed nerf(my main class/subclass for most of destiny), the Titan was always best until the ram was introduced. I deleted my Titan and made a warlock, only to remake a Titan for sunbreaker. I don't think it should be nerfed, it's where it needs to be, it's a real super. They need to buff all of the other subclasses so they're on par with the Titan. Strikers is useless now wtf? I'll never use striker again until it has a purpose or advantage over the others. Ward is still the best for pve though... Anyway, instead of ruining the sunbreaker, they need to buff the rest.

                          I don't main a titan, but used one in year one. The striker was my favorite over the defender and to me had to be played conservatively, to counter super as you've said. Ive only ever gotten killed before using fist of havoc while after animation continued. Never during. Ive taken nova bombs and died only after i landed the fist. Ive never been able to kill a striker mid fist with a shotgun, only just before the leap. My bladedancer cant kill one even with two hits while in mid fist either. I Only ever killed a striker mid fist was with razor edge wave and that only worked at considerable distance. Am I calling for a nerf of sunbreaker? No. But Im not going to pretend like the striker got a armor nerf. My guess is you got a taste of lag and the game screwed you out of a kill. And to clarify, Im assuming you gotta be using unstoppable fist of havoc. Cuz without it, no shit you'll be taken out sometimes.

                            Was it well deserved? Yes. Is it a bit much to deal with? Yes. Regardless of previous classes, no new subclass deserves to be overpowered. Think about it, you have range and close up, with proximity, and INSANE armor. I'm not for the Stormcaller nerf though, which we all know is gonna happen after Sunbreaker nerf. Edit: Concerning the exotic gear for year 1, Titan's had TONS of great gear. -Helm of Saint 14 -Helm of Inmost Light -The Glasshouse -Ruin Wings (aesthetically) -The Armamentarium -Chest of Alpha Lupi Hunter -Achlyophage Symbiote -Celestial Nighthawk -Mask of the Third Man -Don't Touch Me -Crest of Alpha Lupi -I guess maybe Bones of Eao, very limited use I only compared Titan and Hunter because I don't exactly like the Warlock
