Fix three of coins. (and the entire RNG system)
The RNG system is all kinds of -blam!-ed up. Not only is it three of coins but i've done the raid a total of 7 times and all I'm getting is duplicates from that as well. Not to mention some people that used the 20 moldering shards are only getting 2 moldering shards back from the chest.

1 ReplyI have been farming Phogoth looking for the Helm of Krolok, and here is what I have found doing that strike repeatedly with 3 of Coins: 1.) Use only 1 coin at a time. If you are using multiple at once thinking it will increase the odds of an exotic, then you are wasting your coins. The chance of an increase is only applied if you kill an ultra and an exotic did not drop. Using multiple coins at once does nothing to increase the odds of a drop. 2.) It seems your chances increase if [b]YOU[/b] are the on to drop the ultra. I burned through Phogoth 3 times in a row, ever time landing the killing blow, and every time obtaining an exotic engram. On one of those three kills, only 1 other person in the strike got an exotic. 3.) The Flayers do not seem to count as "Ultras". Every time I run that strike, and pop a 3 of Coins, I still see the "Exotic Particles" icon on my character screen after all the Flayers are dead. And typically, I am the one wrecking them with a sword (it is A LOT of fun). I think these 3 bosses may have been modified during the last patch, but I can not confirm. 4.) If you are using these coins in rapid succession, and did not realize Bungie patched that exploit, then you are wasting your coins. The Suicide-Kill Boss method is no longer usable. I have found the 3 of Coins to be extremely lucrative, and give much more bang for my buck (a.k.a. Stange Coins) than buying the engrams. Still chasing that Helm of Krolok, and the Grasp of Malok though...

1 ReplyI did 10 lvl 36 strikes, I took a 3 of coins at the start of each, I received 2 exotic secondary engram's (telesto and 4th horseman) and an exotic helmet engram (obsidian mind). Working just fine if u ask me :p

11 RepliesMy lordy people. These give you a chance to get exotics. It's not use one and u get one for sure. I like the extra chance at more loot. I am getting about 1 exotic engram every 3 to 5 used. I am farming Darkblade for the helm. Pop a 3oC at beginning and go. Takes an average of 7 to 10 minutes to get thru this strike. I never seen a exotic engram drop for me till this 3oC item came into the game. I like the chance. Once again a chance. When it does drop I'm happy at another chance to maybe get an exotic I don't have.

Nah. They have a perfectly fine drop rate. It's something like... 20% chance drop? It has a [b]chance[/b] to drop an exotic engram. If it did almost every time, what would be the point of them being exotic? They're supposed to be extremely rare, so the three of coins honestly takes away from that. I think you're just getting unlucky with these! And you do know they nerfed them to where if you're constantly killing ultras, the drop rate decreases even more, right? Just incase you were doing that. ;)

Tru... I bought 30 coins... after each ultra boss I killed I used another... I have 7 three of coins left and I only have one exotic engram...

Definitely needs to be fixed. I just used 30 3 of coins and didn't receive a single engram of ANY level. Absolutely NOTHING. Seriously WTF. It's a complete waist of time, and resources to get and use them. If there going to have such an atrocious drop rate, then lower the price from xur so we don't waste our coins. OR since Bungie dropped the chance rate how about going over it again and trying to find a more neutral ground in the drop rate. We spend more of the strange coins on these for a chance to get a random exotic then we do just purchasing the ones xur carries. Anyways that's my annoyed rant. Please fix or compensate your players/fans for this horrendous misjudgment in quality of a game mechanic

I agree! They need to fix the RNG on them or give us a set drop rate. Like one exotic drop for every 10 coins used. That would equal what we pay Xur for an exotic piece of armor.

4 RepliesI agree i used 28 yesterday and not a single exotic i mean 3 of coins are hard to get getting strange strange coins is very hard and whenever i finally am able to get enough strange coins to get like 20 3 of coins i dont get an exotic plz raise the chances for an exotic.

Three of coins and moldering shards are bullshit, their only purpose is for players to play more, they bring nothing. RNGesus is always the same crap. Some players get it all, others get nothing whether they use them or not. 4x I got nothing at all on oryx despite 20 moldering shards taken every time, while people without moldering shards at all would get 2 weapons and 2 gears. Likewise, I used 180 three of coins since dlc and all I got was 3x last word. It's just a trick to fool players into playing more. Not going for them anymore and the first player who calls for a chest in oryx is.... Out!

I say ultra kills because the flayers don't count and are a complete waste of time in pursuit of exotic engrams with toc. And I pretty much get the flayers, brothers, and saber the entire time, which makes me not want to run strikes. So I'll go get sword kills in the crucible for as long as I can stand it (bout 20 min), toc it up, and go kill draksis and myself once, then go try to kill people with the sword for another 20. Rinse repeat. 1 every 5 - 6 draksis drops. Of course, they are all the same year one helmets and primarys over and over, what the hell else am I gonna use all these coins on?
