Group stopped inviting me after they found out I'm black.

Recently met a really cool group of people and had a great night playing Destiny with them, but right after they saw a photo of me they stopped sending the invites and responding to my messages. I guess I should've known when one of them said "Awww, nig-tits" when he died in Crucible. Racists are the lowest. I can't imagine The Traveler would choose any racist to defend mankind. EDIT: What an interesting thread this has been! It's very polarized. First you have the good folks offering their sympathies, then you have the good folks sending me private messages offering sympathies and group/clan invites. I'm so grateful for them. Then you have the people who say I'm a liar. Why? Because, they ask, "Why would you randomly send your photo to people you just met? You're a liar." This outlook strikes me as odd because... 1) My original post doesn't say I randomly sent them a photo. These people assume this was the case. Why do they assume this was the case? Because they want to use it as ammunition to call me a liar. 2) My original post says the group stopped inviting me after they saw a picture of me. Period. I didn't say how or why they saw the picture, only that they saw it. 3) The truth is, they saw the picture of me because after a good 5 hours of intense and hilarious gaming, they figured we should all keep in touch. We exchanged kik usernames and I joined their Facebook group for their clan. And guess what? These social networking apps involve pictures. For those asking how they didn't know I was black by listening to me, I truly feel bad for you. Because one's skin color does not predispose them to a certain vernacular or method of speech. Period. I speak English. Boring old English. It's a language free for anyone to speak; it is not reserved for white people, so saying someone "sounds white" is catastrophically ignorant. And stupid. Anyway, this has been educational. The short of it is this: there are two sides. You have the enlightened folk who have no hatred in their hearts. Then you have the hateful folks who will do or say or claim anything to support their hatred. Here in this thread their primary ammunition is to try to discredit my very simple story and brand me a liar. I wish it was a lie, but it's not. Communities need to be made aware when hate slinks around in the dark, masquerading as light. This thread has certainly helped bring them out of hiding, and for that, true Guardians should be thankful. We should know who the agents of Darkness are among us. I /salute the good folks among you. My bow and hunter abilities are forever yours.

  • You have to remember that goofy white males make up a smooth 90% of all Guardians. That coupled with the fact that there are ZERO popular Destiny streamers / top players of color. You are going to run into these idiots A LOT when it comes to playing Destiny. Almost every FPS community is plagued with A) Redneck white males who are quick to drop the N-Bomb in between their Dip spitting and B) Wiggers who think they are black and are constantly and consistently dropping the N-bomb all while listening to Fetty Wap (1738) in the background. Try to create a fire team of IRL friends that you would actual like playing Destiny with... Oh and stay off LFG....that place is AIDS.
