So, does anybody else feel like the "Pursue the Echo" quest is stupid hard? I've never had to have help on any of the game missions, but this mission is ridiculous! Have any of you beat it solo? If so, how?
(Update) I finally got it beat, but I had to have help. I found somebody from one of the raiding groups, but even with two of us we had to try a couple of times. I really did not expect a quest or mission to be that tough!
Update 2: I've helped a few people out with this quest since I beat it. A few of them quit after we didn't beat it the first time. It obviously can be beaten solo, as evidenced by some replies below and I know from experience that it can definitely be beaten with 2 people and I was only around 290. It may takes a few times, but it can be done. You don't have to have 3 guardians over 300 to do it. Just keep at it and you'll get it.
Edit: So, here it is, a year later. Rise of Iron has been out for almost 2 months now. I'm at light level 388. I came back and did this quest with my hunter. I never did it with my hunter for some reason, probably because I already got the loot that I wanted from it, or whatever when I did it with my Warlock.
Anyway, went back at 388 with my Iron Gjallarhorn. 3 shots from Gjally and the Echo was down. No wonder they didn't let have Gjally in year 2. Ha ha!

Just did it. 300 kills, 130 precession and 20 deaths later. As many said, just go to the center of the room to the little light, then return to the main door. Stay there and start with auto rifle. Take the ADS that get in your way. When you are alone with the echo, start hammering him with sniper and some rocket launcher hits. Do it as fast as you can. There is a moment if made fast enough, when the echo stands still. Like tired. That's your opportunity to finish him. All without having to leave where you are. Will post a video soon. It's tough but not impossible. I finished it before I thought. And was almost getting as frustrated as many here. But it's not that difficult.

Edited by bigdogmc1: 12/22/2015 11:42:37 PMHunter. I sat in the doorway and black spindled and Nighthawked him to death, only clearing ADDS as needed. This mission isn't hard. Just cheap, because it keeps throwing more and more enemies at you, so you can't actually fight the boss. Plus, the lack of any decent cover not covered in mines doesn't help. Bungie seriously needs to address their recommended Light values, because they are WAY innacurate. A 299 Hunter should breeze through a 260 mission, which this one is labeled as.

I did it solo, but f*** that mission
-
Solo'd it at 312 warlock. Sniped him from the doorway when spawn. Killed a few of the adds. Ran behind the tubes on the right side. Used tracking rockets. Popped synth. Shot few more adds from behind same tubes. Used rest of tracking rockets and snipes. Took more than a few tries though. Solo'd the touch of malice wizard the same way.
-
I beat it solo. The mission should be called "Pursue the Royal Pain in the Ass". Took multiple tries, but a good sniper and LMG help
-
I've done all missions including touch of malice one solo. Only one I couldn't solo was the black spindle one.
-
The trick is to just sit in the door way.

-blam!-ing missing... it's impossible

I did it solo. It's was a horrible experience, but do-able. (Hunter) I had two invisible smoke grenades to help, and after two damage phases, you just have to ignore the ADS and melt him. Good luck
-
I have out of luck.... just keep going invisible and if you don't got invisibility then.... idk
