LVL 40 BUT ARTIFACT STILL LOCKED
Bungie,
On my hunter, I unlocked the LVL 40, but never got my artifact slot unlocked. My other two characters did. What gives?
Hope this is fixable, I really don't want to delete and restart this guy.
Edit: I was able to get my auto unlocked after I played the first mission on the dreadnought.

Artifacts can be earned through decrypting engrams or as loot drops after reaching Level 40. They are also rewarded for completing the "Reach Level 40" step of your class quest. You receive this class quest from your Vanguard Mentor (Ikora Rey, Cayde-6, or Zavala) and the quest is called "Legend of the Warlock", "Legend of the Hunter", or "Legend of the Titan". Please check with your Vanguard Mentor to see if they have the quest step available for you even if they do not have a quest marker over their head. If they do not have the quest available, please check your active quest or abandoned quests for the "Reach Level 40" or other quest steps. Some posts in this thread indicate that players are encountering an issue with the "Reach Level 40" quest step. Therefore if you have checked your Vanguard Mentor, your active quest and abandoned quests, and have completed the class quest chain past the "Reach Level 30" step, please reply to this post, so that we may investigate further. [b]2:15 PM PDT 9/16/15 EDIT TO ADD: [/b]Thank you for your reports. We are currently investigating the issue where some players are unable to receive the "Reach Level 40" quest step. Please note, completing this quest step is not necessary to unlock the Artifact slot. Players are still able to unlock the Artifact slot by receiving an Artifact through loot drops in game. [b]11:30 AM PDT 9/24/15 EDIT TO ADD:[/b] Today's Hotfix 2.0.0.4 fixed an issue where players who reached Level 40 before turning in the Reach Level 30 objective did not properly receive the Level 40 quest.

Just happened to my second hunter. If you already have an artifact on another character just transfer it to your vault and pick it up with the character that has the artifact slot still locked and it will unlock. There is no need to get one through engrams or quests if you already have one on another character.

1 ReplyExact same thing with my hunter. Never received the lvl 40 quest step, so stuck at lvl 40 with a locked artifact slot. I originally abandoned the legend quest then continued but it stopped at lvl 30 and never gave me another step. Annoyingly I have a marker on my director but when I try to speak to the Vanguard but only shows his inventory. Obviously there's a glitch with this quest considering there's so many replies regarding the same issue.

3 RepliesThis has just happened to me with my Warlock. I didn't realise you got it at lvl 40 until I did with my titan. I found the abandoned quest (which was a the start of the quest) so after going into orbit and back to the tower 5 times it disappeared from my quests tab and therefore no Artifact :( Also I didn't get my pre order guns either :( :(

This seems to be happening to everybody's hunters in particular. I'm sure Bungie will try to do something about this so just hang tight. :)

1 Reply*********************** ****PLEASE READ**** My hunter also had the artifact slot locked, even after level 40. I literally just found one while patrolling the Dreadnaught from a blue engram, took a bunch, but I got it! They're out there! Hope this helps!!

This might be reassuring, but last night 4 artifacts dropped for me and I COULD equip them, so problem solved!

Having the same issue no artifact level 40 legend of the Hunter nowhere to be found, make my hunter not a playable character.

2 RepliesJust went to the Abandoned Quest terminal and picked up the "Legend of the Titan" over again. Having to go to orbit to progress the quest. Makes for a lot of load screens as I fly back to the tower every 5 levels.

I got the same quest but when I got to and I never got the artifact so I start over on my hunter and I couldn't get the old guard shader it said I need to be our year one veteran which I already was because I had unlocked it on my hunter before I deleted him can you fix the bungie?

I don't have it yet, quest was completed and I got no item, and no droops seem to drop cus it says artifacts unlock at Lvl 40 and its locked

Yup me too. No unlock love on my main post 40. But worked jUst fine on my second character. My main is a warlock and my second us a titan. I have done all the quests my friends have to get the artifact uNlocked. This is super frustrating. Please fix asap Bungie.
