To the idiots who say grimoire is only ghosts...
Let me clear up the grimoire=dead ghosts claim.
Ghost account for about 5 grimoire each. Some Ghosts count for 10 or 15 though.
There are 77 dead ghosts.
77x5=385. Let's just round that up to approximately 550. Fair enough?
Only 550 score out of a possible 3620 (xb) or 3665 (ps) can be given to you by finding dead ghosts. While that is a substantial gain, it is not the key factor for a high grimoire.
You say Grimoire doesn't show skill? Let me brake it down.
Where did the other 3,000 points come from? It shows you have played a variety of PvE and PvP content, and that you have done them [u]multiple[/u] times. It shows commitment to the game. Whether that is a good or bad thing is up for debate.
Now, grimoire means, for the most part, [u]experience[/u]. You do not need a high grimoire score to be good. You can have a natural talent at the game.
But:
talent+experience=skill
When talent is refined with experience, that makes a player skilled.

That is why grimoire, to me, means skill.
[b]Usually[/b] anyway. I will play with anyone, it doesn't matter to me. But, I will prefer people who have a higher score. I feel I can trust them to know what is going on.

7 RepliesLol I have a 2725 grimoire score but would most likely wreck you in pvp. I go flawless 3 times a week usually within the first 2-3 hours of release it will be done on all chars. Grimoire score has more to do with the grind of the game. Most cards will be for killing a certain amount of enemies, so if you think aiming and shooting at AI bots is skill then hats off to you. I have only found around 6-7 ghosts so the score is purely from doing what I like doing which it should be. Stop judging on people's score judge them on their skill.

Around half of the ghosts are 10-15, with around 75% of those being worth 15. Your math is correct, but based upon improper givens.

Grimoire doesnt say anything about how skilled a guardian is. I wrecked a clan in trials with full score and we won. And many other..

Exactly dude. Seeing grim over 3500 means that they've killed a few aliens in their time lol. Of course you can be lower than 3500 and still be good but I have never seen anyone 3500+ that wasn't experienced and skilled.

I wouldn't say grimore means so much. I see it as some people just don't have enough time to do 3 characters. Tough part is i can still be number one in a game of crucible even with max grimore all around.

When HoW drop, got to max level, got all exotics, got satisfied with the armor stats, like the weapons the have....they get bored with the game and don't what to do. Some people play other games, some people want to raise their grimoire score (I did); by doing so I have over 3700 grimoire before TTK which I feel proud of myself, cus it felt like I actual achieved something in destiny lol

I couldn't care less about my grim score. I am in it to have fun. Collected every exotic and raid gear. My team has completed every challenge Bungie has graced us with. HM VoG, HM CE, 35 PoE... all done legit when they came out. But, we are never serious about it. Heck, in VoG we probably spent an hour each time just knocking each other off the jump puzzle and purposely activating gorgon stares. If I find a ghost.... than I find a ghost.... but I am probably missing between 50-60 of them. Nor will I spend my time just hunting down orges for an elusive card. Lol! Grim does not equal skill....

Nobody is saying it's only ghosts. It's just stupid that people think max grimoire is important. You don't get it without doing a bunch of bullshit like finding ghosts and chests. All it means is you've played the game a lot. It doesn't mean your better than somebody who didn't spend a bunch of time looking for hidden shit.

2 RepliesSee a trials team with about 2550 or there abouts. Time to worry. I've 3670 and have not gone flawless. Some low grim players can really kick the balls off you in pvp. Grimoire means f all imo. Other stuff comes from grinding shotty kills etc hive ogres.

3 RepliesI ran skolas with 2900 grimoire for the first time and wound up carrying 2 experienced 3500 grimoire players through.... Without a mic. Grimoire isn't a valid measure of skill.

Okay I have 2900 ish and could be considered a noob, I have not found ghosts so based on your math looking for ghosts is the difference between me having good grimoire and being considered noobish, 3450 is respectable is it not?

3 RepliesI've seen plenty of people with max grimoire score not know what to do in a PoE or raid. To me, grimoire score means nothing, just shows how much time you put into the game. Some might say that makes you more experienced, and they're right. But a person with 600+ hours might be less skilled then somebody with 200+ hours. My grimoire is crap, but I'm more experienced than most people with max grimoire. I've been here since the beta and have done every raid, PoE, strike, etc. and I know what I'm doing. So please stop with this elitist crap and give everybody a chance.

I agree with what you've said, but I also don't think that people without 3300+ grimoire should be judged for not wanting to take a shitload of time to go back through and find every ghost and make sure to kill every unique boss( such as the HoW ones) just so people think they're pro. I'm decent at this game because I can learn and understand tactics and boss fights and am fairly decent at consistently shooting with precision in PVE, so when someone doesn't add me cuz my grimoire is only in the 2800s it's super annoying. Running around for hours just to find dead ghosts and being meticulously obsessive about the grimoire is just the system Bungie wants to further develop their fanaticism and addicted hardcore audience, which is fine, but I still don't think other people should be looked down upon because they don't want to spend the time looking up every location and thing just to get max grimoire.
