Antony gazed across the dust laden table and into the eyes of his former prey. Cool midnight air wafted through the broken window on his left. He imagined that its quiet whistle was the Vandal's final, wheezing breath. This brought him comfort.
The two sat in this manner for several minutes; Fallen staring vacantly into the eyes of her Feller, and vice versa. Antony heard the faintest wisp of cloth in the breeze, and instinct took over. He stood and reeled around, knocking his chair out from under him. At the same time he reached for the blade tucked safely in the sleeve of his gauntlet and hurled it at the coming enemy in a fluid movement so fast that it was blinding. Nikasa stopped just short of his blade plunging itself into her skull.
"A little on edge, I see," she said. Her cloak blew gently with the wind.
"Nikasa...should have known. Come to check up on me?" Antony tried to hide his irritation. His friend crossed the room and knelt to inspect the Fallen.
"This is excellent work, Antony. Seems you had a struggle, though. Drixiks didn't go down so easy, eh?"
"Wind must have changed while I approached. She caught my scent," Antony admitted anxiously. His hands fidgeted at his sides.
"Mistakes forge your future, Antony. Don't forget that. None of us are born invisible. We craft ourselves this way." She stood up and started to leave.
"Then it's done," Antony inquired. Nikasa stopped. She looked back over her shoulder.
"Yes, it's done. I would welcome you, but there is nothing to welcome you to. We do not exist." She stepped out into the night. Antony reached for his helmet and placed it on his head. He pulled up the hood of his cloak and followed her. Together, the Hunters faded into the black, leaving only a corpse and no other trace.
