Did anyone notice this about the queen in the twitch trailer

Oryx gets her

81

gives her life

37

lives to fight on

192

The queens eyes change from what normal awoken eyes look like, right before she falls backwards. It seems to be that Oryx steals her essence or soul or something. Not sure if there is any merit to this theory I came up with, but bungie did say a key person will die. What if that's how Oryx gets the queen. Or it could be something that her and her guard people are doing to help the fight, but either way I now think that Oryx well get her in some way or she gives her life to save many. Either way I can not wait to see how the story unfolds, just hope we don't have to fight a taken version of the queen, I just could not kill her. what do you all think?

No, I disagree, I think that somehow she has a link to the Harbingers that wiped out the HoW in the original Reef Wars. If you look out the window of her ship when that happens, it looks like there is a glowing purple shot charging up from the front of her ship, and also the Teuchens behind her also look like they are focusing. It seems like she is channeling some kind of energy with her witches to charge up her harbinger, presumably so she can destroy the dreadnought. In the next scene with the Queen we see 5 purple "missiles" zooming toward the dreadnought and for those that know about the harbingers they were supposedly a void weapon. At this point her eyes stop glowing, as she has used her "power" to try charge the harbinger and she is coming out of her "trance". She then passes out from exhaustion, from the strain of powering them. Now onto Oryx, I think that oryx slamming his sword down into that pedestal is what initiates the blast from the dreadnought, that kills both the hive ships and the awoken ships. Notice after the blast is shown in the video, that his sword begins to get a dark aura, much like the taken have. I believe that this blast from the dreadnought captured all the "souls" of the creatures that it had killed, both hive and awoken, and Oryx takes the energy from the sword and forms it into a ball, which he then infuses himself with, to perhaps make himself stronger.

  • I'll cut off her pretty little head with one of those epic swords if it gives me a chance at a new exotic

That the Queen collapsing and Oryx taking something are shown next to each other I think is purely for effect. They may not necessarily be connected.

    • I'm thinking Eris. Cause after oryx we won't really need her anymore. And her going out I'm a heroic sacrifice moment would be a pretty good end to her story

      • I think it's her using some power I think I remember hearing/reading that some awoken carry special powers. So I assume she used all of hers and it wore her out. Plenty of movies have used the concept when a character uses their power, they tend to faint.

        • Just watched it and when that happens shes narrating and saying hat she bows to no one so my guess is her eyes glowing is Oryx trying to "take" her and impose his will but she fights it with the help of her Techeuns and then faints from exhaustion. This is going to be a fascinating narrative, a battle of wills between two powerful monarchs.

her eyes and the wizard people behind her have some kind of bright white energy. at the very end of the trailer you can see oryx clutching what looks to be the same energy, and shoving it into his chest (harnessing it). im inclined to think that this is how oryx gains the ability to 'take' people because during some of the cutscenes oryx is red/geenish and during others he loses all his color and has darkness surrounding him.

        • It's definitely just something about the queen or the awoken that hasn't been mentioned before.

        • I think one of the grimoire cards said that the Queen had abilities no one knew about besides the higher command so maybe that's what happens

        • I going with the using an unmentioned ability idea. Perhaps seeing through her brothers eyes?

        • Actually. I disagree. Having read quite a few of the grimoire (can't claim all just yet), I can tell you the Queen exhibits abilities that have not been spoken in-game yet. Ones that are increased by her "witches" the Techeuns behind her. I truly believe she is using power she is not accustomed to using in such great amounts that she is exhausted. Give me a second to find the exact grimoire I am gaining this information from.

          • She is probably a spirit that can escape her own body and possess another one. (Voldemort is a great example)

          • She passes out in because her brother dies/become taken. They have a strong bond and can sense if the other one is in danger.
