Overview of the known Titan Orders and their History

Hi there Guardians! This is one of many Titan related posts that will make up my Master post on their Lore, History, and Philosophy. I hope you enjoy! - The Titan Orders - There are currently 8 known Titan orders: The Pilgrim Guard, Firebreak, Chain, First Pillar, Gatewatch, Sun Legion, Stoneborn, and the Lost Saint. The total number of Titan orders is unknown as of right now but there are assuredly quite a few in current times. There weren't always so many however. Only 4 orders were in existence at the time of the Battle of the Six Fronts, 3 have been confirmed, the Firebreak, Stoneborn, and Chain orders. The other could very well be the Pilgrim Guard due to their age and presence during events around the time of the Six Fronts, but this is unconfirmed. I will go into the details of each order briefly. Here we go! Order of the Pilgrim Guard: The first of the Titan orders, they were likely present at the Six Fronts. Members believe in protecting the city at all costs, and sacrifice themselves in service to the citizens of the City who remain nameless. One of the maxims held by this order is, "To those behind the Wall, love and service. To those outside it, fury and fire." Something that brings them to fight ferociously to protect the City. Vell Tarlowe is one notable member of this Order. Firebreak Order: Present at the Six Fronts, this highly aggressive order of Titans wanted to pursue the Fallen in a counterattack offensive to finish them off. They follow what is known as the Firebreak Calculus, an optimization question that eventually was made into a mathematical model for individual Titans' Ghosts to solve in the heat of battle. It reads as follows: How much good can I do if I find the right place and fight until I die? The Titans of the Firebreak order live and die by this maxim. They also carry with them a piece of what is known as the Fire Victorious. This is the Firebreak order's ever burning flame that links them all together. It burns as a symbol of the order ever standing in defiance of the Darkness and its minions. Notable Titans from this order includes Lord Radagast and Silimar of the Lords of Iron. They led a sortie to retake some of our territory the Fallen had control of during the Battle of the Six Fronts. They fought for every inch of ground they gained and when it was time to pick the spot of their final stand they had 5 miles of bloody field at their back. They may have passed on into legend but their piece of the Fire Victorious still burns bright in the halls of the Firebreak Order. Gatewatch Order: Traditionally tasked as the watchmen and keepers of the Wall. They focus on defensive tactics and call their members to stand fast against the Darkness even if they face it alone. They believe each member must act as an individual wall to achieve their ultimate goal of protecting the City and its inhabitants. Relying on backup or your fellow guardians is a short term crutch when you expect to be the last one standing. The Gatewatch don't believe much in crutches. Chain Order: Present at the Six Fronts, focus heavily on chain of command structure and leadership. They had some Titans break orders however during the Six Fronts. This was not enough to topple them though and they prevailed even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Sun Legion Order: The Sun Legion cannot be explained without also explaining the importance and role of the Legion orders themselves. Legion orders in the Titan hierarchy are the sole armorers for the enumerated orders. They are who develop and create the many armor patterns we know and use today. They use their battle knowledge to influence and better their designs. Warrior-Smiths and masters of the forge, they craft many patterns of Titan armor for use by the other Orders. In particular the Sun Legion Titans are the makers of the Firebreak, Aegma, and their personal battle pattern, Vanir. They follow Norse Warrior philosophy as well and are heavily influenced by it in battle, making them fierce warriors in their own right. The Stoneborn Order: Present for the building of the First Wall and the Six Fronts, they believe that Titans are the true wall which must be built for the City's protection but still believe that the Wall was a necessity, helping to shape the stone of the First Wall themselves. First Pillar Order: Rooted deeply in sacrifice and valor in one's final moments. The First Pillar order keeps a manuscript that details the last stands of every Titan member who has fallen in battle. They believe in a strong sense of fatalism, calling their members to die countless deaths so long as each one is an additional piece of victory. Order of the Lost Saint: The Lost Saint order was spawned from the legendary tales of Saint-14's crusade against the Fallen. They follow his teachings and philosophy on the nature of the Darkness itself and his belief in proactive aggressive action against it. *Bonus* Splinter Orders: Sunbreaker Clan: The group who developed the Breaker style of combat and Light wielding. They gain their abilities by focusing their light with what is known as the Sunbreaker Forge. This Forge tempers their light with the might and energy of Sol itself. They were once a prominent group in the Tower and the City as a whole but their banner has now become a symbol of defiance. They are rogue mercenaries by nature and have shown to have a very aggressive side. They were not always mercenaries though. They once held an influential place in the City's hierarchy. They are known to not have come to the City during the Dark Ages. Instead relying on their own strength in the wild and protecting. Their banner is seen as a symbol of defiance in the City now likely due to their ties with Osiris and leaving Earth. One member of this group when they left the Tower was an Exo Titan named Lilavati-12. They left for Mercury seemingly after the Twilight Gap because they disagreed with the Speaker leading the City and even more so with the Titan orders bowing to him in submission. There could also be a link to the exiling of Osiris that led them to this decision. There is some speculation that they are still in contact with Lord Shaxx and have Häkke supplying them with armor due to their loss of access to the Legion orders of the City. Their current leader is one of the most powerful Titans alive today. Her name is Ouros and little is known of her beyond that. They also likely used the Garuda pattern of armor before leaving Earth. Thank you for your time and I hope this helped you better understand Titans even if it was only a little bit!
