I have my theory and I wanna hear yours. I believe that Rasputin may have called the traveler for help in a sense. And the Traveler told rasputin to initiate "MIDNIGHT EXIGENT" and essentially sleep until reawakened. I believe he killed much of Earth himself to protect from impending doom. He may have thought that by killing almost everything on the planet it would be passed up or vaccated quickly. But by calling on the traveler and the traveler heading the call, the darkness knew that there was life and a use for Earth. Otherwise, why would the traveler strive to protect it! I feel that the Warminds are simply dormant waiting to be reawoken either by Rasputin or the traveler. If by the traveler than it must be repaired first and if by Rasputin, he may be waiting for the order from the traveler. Either way i feel Rasputin and the traveler conversed in the beginning moments of the collapse or perhaps before.
